Planning on taking two pairs of 511 pants. Are these too tactical for South Africa? They are very sturdy and comfortable, but with all the pockets, will this draw too much attention or scrutiny?
Thanks.
Leaving Monday June 1.

Take them. I've been to Africa 10 times to various countries (RSA, Zim, Botswana, Namibia) and have never had anyone look at my clothes. In some countries, Zim for example, camoflauge clotheing is supposedly illegal. My PH wore a camo jacket everywhere he went including town, but cautioned me not to wear my camo when in town. He was worried about some local cop trying to hit me up for a bribe.

I have worn 5:11 pants on two trips to South Africa and Zimbabwe without any problem whatsoever. They held up well and were very comfortable.

I was in SA, Botswana & Zim last Sept / Oct and was wearing similar pants that had more pockets and I had no problems. My first African trip.

Those are real cool pants. I wish we could get them here in NZ.

They are like a cheap motel, they have no ball room.

I hate 5.11 pants.

I wear Tru-Spec and Blackhawk. Give them a try if you don't like the way 5.11's cut off circulation to the wedding tackle.
