Elephants Endanger Farming Season in Kuangar District 7 April 2010 Menongue — Elephants are destroying the agricultural fields in Kuangar District, south-eastern Kuando Kubango Province, which can jeopardise this year's harvest, ANGOP learnt on Tuesday. According to a press note from the Archives and Information Centre in Kuangar District which has reached ANGOP, the worst damages have been recorded in Candedele locality where these wild animals often invade the agricultural fields. The document refers that a civil protection commission was created over the last weekend in Kuangar District, so as to check the damages caused by the elephants, study possible ways to stop wild animals from destroying the fields of peasants. According to the source, the peasants said that the harvest of this year is completely compromised which might cause a lot of hunger in this region.
