I saw a Mozambique Spitting Cobra when I was hunting north of Thabazimbi RSA. It was around 6 or 7 ft long and was one of the most deadly looking things I have ever seen.

+1. I had a run in with a Black Widow spider a couple years ago. That gave me a healthy fear of creepie crawlies.

I've been bitten by a black widow. It was not a fun time or experience. However, it's really the snakes that I don't particularly like. . . .

We have a few dangerous snakes here too. follow this link

The most effective first aid is to administer a pressure bandage to the affected limb. Most deaths in Australia due to snake bite are attributed to the common Eastern Brown snake. It is not because they have the most potent venom, (although it is right up there with the fierce snake, which has the most toxic venom), or because they produce the largest quantity of venom per bite (that honour goes to the Mulga snake), but simply because they are so widespread and common. I still think the Black Mamba is probably the most dangerous snake in the world, due to the combination of speed aggression and deadly venom, and if they can rise up and bite you on the torso a pressure bandage isn't likely to work.
I don't like them, but it doesn't stop me from hunting. However I always carry a couple of pressue bandages in my pack.

With four trips to Namibia, we've seen a couple of Puff Adars, a couple of what our PH called Zebra Cobras and a few of the large scorpions. Not too scary as they where spotted several meters away. The cobras took off but he Puff Adars were...dispatched.

This past Oct I was in RSA in the Natal province taking the RSA/Natal PH course with Ian Goss. After I completed the course I spent a few days hunting.

The last day of hunting (Sunday) we left out before daylight, hunted all day - got a nice Nyala and we shot a couple of Warthogs and Impala for meat. Flew out the next day (Mon) and got home late Tuesday. Emailed back to thank them for a great experience and to let them know I made it home OK.

Nest day (Wed), I received a note back and at the end he said to the affect, " didn't want to tell you at the time but, when the maids went into your bungalow to clean Sunday morning after we left hunting, they found a 1 1/2 meter Mozambique Spitting Cobra in your room."

I keep telling myself it got in there AFTER we left out hunting!!!!! Eeker

Never been snake bit, but have had two nasty experiences with brown recluse spiders here in the states. Lots of penicillin, fever, nausea...all in all a crap experience. Don't like them...but hate snakes with a passion.
