This is my maiden voyage on accurate reloading - have really enjoyed the hunt reports. I booked a 14 Day Buffalo and Sable hunt in Matetsi 2 in early September. I have been informed by the outfitter that there is now some sort of dispute over the concession and my hunt is not looking good. They have offered me an alternate.

The outfitter has offered me a hunt in the Kazuma and Pandamasui area with Barry and Rob Styles. I am told this is also a good area for elephant bulls.

Do I cancel based on the change or is the new area an as good or better option than Unit 2.

Ma Baker:

Welcome! I will be hunting Kazuma with Barry and Rob late next month. I will be hunting bull elephant. I have known them for about 8 years or so and their reputation is sterling. This will be my second hunt with them. I took 2 really good buffalo with them in their Cheridzi concession in 2007.

I have seen some fantastic sable and buff come from Kazuma and Pandamaui. Ask them for their latest newsletter showing recent trophies taken.

Rob and Barry will do the right thing for you. You can rest assured of that.

Feel free to PM with any questions you have on Rob and Barry.

And yes, you are right. That area is one of the best for big bull elephant in all of Zimbabwe. There are not many tuskless cows as compared to the Zambezi River valley though.

Regards,

RCG

Welcome to the site!

I personally had the privilege of guiding several clients in both these beautiful areas under Buffalo Range Safaris. You will not be disappointed from start to end. I no longer guide for them so this is not sales talk - I have dealt with various operators and these guys are good guys in a damn good big game area. Feel free to PM me.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a hoot out of the new sign at the entrance to Matetsi 2.

It was hand painted by someone who spelled English poorly and had less artistic skills than a pre-K child with a couple of broken Crayons. It was very, very sad.

Still, we had a great time trying to guess what animal was supposedly depicted upon it. I thought it was a house cat with a telephone pole embedded in its brain. Another guy thought it was a doberman impaled by a streetlight, bulb and all.

If the quality of what's inside the concession is in anyway reflected by the quality of the welcome sign (and I believe it will be), be glad you have an option to go elsewhere.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

Rob and Barry are the BEST!

You cannot go wrong with them, and Kazuma is one of the best areas for what you are lloking for in Zim.

Enjoy Kazuma. You will be in some of the safest and most reliable hands around.

RCG,

You can expect a great hunt! There is quite a bit of elephant activity. We saw a bull in Pandamasui that will go close to 70#! hopefully the group is still around when you are there. We gave Barry the details on the group so hopefully he gets you on them.

I got a 55 inch Kudu, a 43 inch Buff and a 42 inch Sable.

Water is good on Kazuma as well - good luck!
