Advice for a short safari in South Africa

Hello,

I will have to go on a official trip to Pretoria in the 2nd half of July. I am thinking about prolonging my stay for a few days for a short safari. It would be my first safari in Africa.

I thought about 2 days of hunting. The outfit therefor should be within reasonable distance from Pretoria, maybe somewhere in the Limpopo Province.

Trophy size is not my main goal; for most, a fair chase and nice and exhausting days in the bush would be my aim. I would like to go for 1 or 2 species of plains game (e.g. impala an warhog).

Is this a realistic scenario at all?

Thank you very much for any advices and suggestions.

Looks very do-able.

I'm sure on of the SA PHs will contact you with some ideas.

I just got back from a trip, and did 3 days of Plains Game in South Africa as a warm up. I thought all I would get is 2-3 animals, and ended up with 6.

I think a short hunt is very doable, if somewhat frustrating.

Sir, we can help you with this. Your processional hunter will be Danie v.d. Watt and you would be hunting our Kruis river nature reserve area that is 8.000 acres big and only two hours drive from fhe airport, in Limpopo. Please email me with details of your inquiry. Velen dank!

Danik,

I am an hour's drive from Pretoria (109km), bordering the Limpopo and Northwest Provinces. I can surely help!

In addition to the other recommendations, I have hunted with Johan and Nadien Bosch at Dinaka Ranch, Nylstroom, SA. Couple hours north of Pretoria by road....and they have Buff and Rhino, in addition to excellent plains game. Great people.
Enjoy!!
