I was hoping someone here could give some feedback on recent trophy shipping costs from Zim to the US (TX).

I did a search on here and didn't find any recent 2010 or newer shipping costs guys have been paying.

I received my invoice for an ele tropy taken last May that is ready to ship and it is much higher than I paid in 2004.

Shipment contents:
1 29 kg tusk
3 TANNED skin panels
4 tanned feet
1 tail
1 leg bone
1 skull
$2700.00 USD
Freight consultants is shipper

Does this look to be similar to what others are paying recently?

Thanks in advance

I can't compare exactly not having shipped an ele skull and tusk; however,my buffalo with skull, cape, and backskin was $1,028 for shipping last year. Based on this, your $2,700 for the much larger weight sounds more than fair.

since things are tanned you might save $$ on ocean freight, i know they won't ship raw skins, but tanned stuff is ok

I am outdated as I shipped my elephant skull back in 2004, but $2,700 sounds fair.

My crate contained:
Ele skull, jaw & tusks
Two buff skulls
Lion skin and skull

Freight was $1700

I would assume your crate will be similar in size and weight to mine.

BTW, I really regret the fact that I did not bring back one of my elephant's leg bones. I shot my lion off a bait that consisted of my elephant's "drumsticks". I wish I had not left them there.

Shipping has nothing to do with weight---It is volumetric dimensions of the crate.
Costs look in line.

In April of 2010 I shipped 2 buffalo skulls, 2 capes dipped and packed and a kudu euro mount for $1031 from South Africa. It cost another $550 for dip and pack and get it from Zim.

That is almost always true for trophy shipments, but in cases where the the crate is small but heavy the price can be based on the weight instead of the volume.

Notice below, in Hutty's post the actual weight and Volumetric weight are both listed. The "chargeable weight" is based on the higher of the two.
