Uganda
By pure accident I met a friend of Dave Beisner, a PH for Uganda Game Trails Safaris. The friend put me in touch with Dave and we have been discussing safari possibilities.

I see that there is some interest in hunting in Uganda so with Dave's permission I copy below a few pictures from the 2006 season. It appears they have a first rate camp and very high quality game. The wart hog alone had me really excited, not to mention the fine buffalo. Uganda was allocated a few leopard CITES permmits and they will be hunting them next year. I don't know if USFWS will allow the trophies to be imported into the US.

Anyway enjoy the pictures and if you are interested in learning more contact Dave at dabeisner@comcast.net or our own Mark Young of Safari Trackers.

That is one great warthog and now there is finally a place to take the huge East African Impala without paying Tanzania prices. To top it off you've got good buff and hippo available. I think Uganda might be a good choice.

This Lake Kachira area of Uganda is 200km north of the Tanzanian hunting area of Lake Burigi on the west side of Lake Victoria.

They were allocated 26 leopards for "tourist hunting"! So if Game Trails ar ethe only authorised outfitters as has been claimed on AR, they should have plenty to offer.
Incredible hog, impala and nice buff as well. thumb
Is that Dave in the pic?

The bushbuck and eland are not shabby either... with no authorized hunting for the last decade or so Uganda may be a sleeper!

BTW, I would really feel special sitting on that particular privy... looks like a bloody throne!

Mich,

That's Dave in the picture below. BTW it's a Jeffries 450N2, I asked Wink

I think the prices are very reasonable given the game availability and quality. Very nice camp and good people as well.

Brett,

Could you provide contact info for the company? Kudude

Kudude,

Dave Beisner is the PH I have been speaking to, he books hunts in the US when he's not in Uganda. His email address is dabeisner@comcast.net.

Mark Young of Safari Trackers also books hunts in the same area with the same company.

Full disclosure: I have no finantial interest in this whatsoever. Just passing along interesting information.

Impressive trophies to say the least. I'd like to hear if anyone had problems getting their trophies out of the country? Mark, any info?
Thanks, David

David,

MAU MAU booked with Game Trails through us for 15 August. When he returns it will be the proof in the pudding but it would seem all is in place for trophy shipment and all the rest.

Damn! I'd like to get one of those monster impala available there.

Mark what is the story there is it a concession they are hunting or a ranch?

surestrike,

You bring up a good point that I don't have the answer for. Seems that I remember an article in The Hunting Report some years ago about a ranch hunt in Uganda. I'll try to find out what the story is.

Mark

The info Ted Gorsline sent me a while back indicated that it was a conglomerate of ranches, essentially like conservancies in Namibia, SA and Zim.

Of course this may be a different area but I am not sure, the one I have info on is west of Lake Mburo

Uganda is a really nice country IMO.

Trying one more time to see if there is any news on hunting in Uganda. I did see some pictures on Adam Clements site at the beginning of the year but did not read any reports.

Is this still a good future option or have in-country factors made it undesirable?

There are some photos of trophies from Uganda on the Hunting Report website at www.huntingreport.com
There's a Ugandan kob that Steve Kobrine took that should be the new SCI Archery #1. Also, under Website Uploads there's a beautiful Nile bushbuck that he also took with a bow. That's believed to be the first Nile bushbuck taken by an international hunter with a bow.
Uganda is ramping up their hunting program and is coming on fast as a great destination.
