It has been a long day. From the cold early this morning, riding on top of the cruiser, to the dust and heat of the day. Tetse flies and mopane bees seemed to swarm all around you but never seemed to bother your PH. Probably something to do with his scent.
You came close a couple of times, the dust from the herd rising above the scrub and grass. Could never get quite close enough though. It seems like they always knew just where you were. Must have been that ph's scent again.
The dust sticks to the sweat on you skin like glue. You don't seem to be able to drink enough water, but still you go on. That big old bull you caught a glimpse of is with the herd, but its getting late. Maybe tomorrow, there's always tomorrow,
Back in camp once agin, the hot shower felt as if you reached up and touched heaven. There is still a bit of the orange sky left, maybe that's where heaven is. Slipping into you comfey sweats, the path from your tent to a glowing mopane fire hurries you on. Your young PH is already sitting there. On a table are some guinea sncks, and some bacon wrapped dove breasts. Samuel asks what you would like in your sundowner. A bit of scotch you answer.
There are the sounds of the evening, of the upcoming night all around you. An elephant is crashing a tree, a zebra laughs, a far away hyena is whooping it up, and the distant lion is calling to his brother.
Sitting in the chair, sundowner in one hand and a snack in the other, you realize that in your world, all is right, that there is peace for you. To all have a peaceful holiday season
The dust

As the blizzard eases outside, I find that I am pining for camp life as well. I will be there in three months. Treadmill this morning, with visions of elephant dancing in my head. Then back to reality with snow removal. Sigh.

Blizzard? What the hell is that? It is 28C outside with a light drizzle at the moment. Cool
