I just heard a horror story about an up coming hunt with the above group. The hunters have sent over 20K and can get no return e-mail or call. They fear their money is lost. There is some issue with consession fee and jail reportedly. Amy one have facts of this issue or status of the above PH. Sprig Sprig Rose lipped maidens--light foot lads!!!

Do a search on the forum... Though to give some benifit of the doubt- which goes against the grain- on a small operation, when the boss-cum PH- cum secretary is out on a hunt- mail does not get attended to. I hope this is not a hunt that is suposed to take place in Zim

Do keep the forum posted on developments...He caused a nause by selling dodgy hunts in Zim a couple of years back, - much to the embarresment of the legitimate operator in whose area the hunts were to take place - but didn't actually take anybody's money at the end of the day.

I've met Ian Dodds, but never hunted with him. He is a PH who works outside of SA on a frequent basis so his availability to respond to any correspondence doesn't have much to do with where the hunt is booked. Given the fact that today and Monday are holidays in SA, quite a few outfits are closed until next Tuesday, which will allow the typical wild offbase accusations and counter-accusations of people on this forum who have no idea what the facts really are, to crucify (how timely) someone before any real information is obtained. It will be wonderful to watch the restraint and objectivity of our fellow members here. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Wink, Thanks for your very informative reply. I would have never ask a slightly negative question about a PH without it already having considerable history. I wish you could have been half as much help in Iraq. But what the hell there is always wine and cheese. Sprig Sprig Rose lipped maidens--light foot lads!!!

Bullsprig, always glad to help. It turns out the firm I work for (American) is doing quite a lot of work in Iraq right now, as in Afghanistan and Southern Sudan. I'm more than willing to help you out in Iraq with whatever means are at our disposal. Just what is it you need help with in terms of your involvement in Iraq? By the way, I am an American citizen, so if your comment is meant to be addressed to some French official you will need to obtain a different address. I can gladly supply you with several addresses as well. If you would like a job in Iraq with us, here is a link to our employment web site and there are a couple of positions open. http://bergergroup.com/resume/res_form/job_list.php _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Chief of Party looked promising until I read the description -- no mention of beer at all! Once again I find that a formal education does not qualify me for much. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I received the April issue of the SCI " Safari Times" today, 4/18/06. In it on page 30, is a legal notice that one Ian Dodds has been suspended for five (5) years by SCI for a violation of the SCI bylaws in relation to a contract for a hunt. No more details were printed. It does not say where Mr. Dodds is from or who he represents. Shall we assume that this is the same person that BullSprig refers to in his original posting? Wink, maybe there is some truth to the original post after all. The article mentioned that it took effect automatically on March 2, 2006. This would seem to suggest that the problem or complaint has been in the system and known for some time. RCG

I never said it wasn't true, and it may well be true. I just advise that the facts be known before condemnation takes place. The Easter weekend holidays are now over and it should be possible for the interested parties to communicate with South Africa and obtain timely responses. As we are all potential victims of fraudulent activity, this Forum is an excellent way to get the information out. We just have a responsibility to try to obtain accurate information before making our posts. If SCI has suspended this same Ian Dodds (and I don't think there are many with that name) then there is reason to be wary. However, the outfitter may or may not be part of the problem and I don't think we have any information on that yet. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Here is his website. Has never had much info on it. It looks like Ian was trying to become the Walmart of safari... involved in everything...but no info.... His Uncle for a time with Hunters Africa was quite the safari company in Botswana amongst other countries. Seems the nephew has not fared as well. http://www.huntersafricagroup.com/huntersafrica/index.html
