Hello

We knew this Cuddeback trail cam could take video footage, we just didn't know how. Dan solved this problem yesterday when he read the camera instructions. This is the result and all I can say is bravo Cuddeback and bravo Dan Rath. What is remarkable is that last night was pitch black, no moon at all when this footage was captured.
Shouldn't Zambezi Hunters be getting some commission from Cuddeback for doing this? Ha ha

Did it work? Are you able to view the clips? If not, could someone please instruct me on how to post them properly. Thanks, Dave

Nice clips, too bad there's no audio. What do you figure the cat's size to be?

475Guy1:

We reckon this leopard weighs about 120 pounds.

475Guy1,

Yes, it's an average size cat. Nothing to write home about, especially here in the lowveld. If we were in the Zambezi valley right now, this leopard would not be on bait, it would be in the salt! Even down here, many would take it, but acting on his PH's advice, Stewart has decided not to. I have a lot of respect for these hunters for making that decision. That is the difference between hunting and shooting.
Take a look at the leopard's neck and shoulder region, and you will see that it has not fully filled out yet. A big tom's head sits squarely on its shoulders.

I guess it's like judging a bear by looking at the head and the size of ears.

That's interesting. I didn't know they could do video at night that good. What kind of a light is that?

Yukon

There is no light involved - all infra red. And on a pitch black night. I thought it was pretty awesome.

Those are some pretty amazing clips, David.

I was filming a hunt with Ivan Carter at Lemco back in July and we had a guy who was hunting leopard. They used a few Cuddebacks to get some photos of the tom he ended up taking, which I thought was really cool. That no flash system works very well.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed that a lot!

namibiahunter:

It is a 1 Gigabyte card. It has enough space to store 12 x 1 minute video clips, and about 12 stills pictures. Obviously, if the cam is only set for stills, the card can hold hundreds of images.
