Came across this article today homer

Leila Magnus, Beeld

Pretoria - An apparently drunk man who gave a buffalo alcohol and then was injured by the animal, is suing for R570 000 damages.

Johan Lombard, a construction worker from Georgia in the United States, is holding veterinarian Johan Hendrik Meyer of Boksburg on the East Rand responsible for the animal's behaviour.

He claimed R70 000 for present and future medical costs, R350 000 for loss of income, and R150 000 for pain and loss of enjoyment of life.

Lombard stated that Meyer was the owner of the farm and the buffalo.

He said "Blossom", an employee of Meyer, had told him and a companion in July 2003 that it was safe to enter the buffalo enclosure on the farm near Bela Bela.

Lombard claimed Meyer was negligent, because there were no signs indicating otherwise at the enclosure, thereby creating the illusion that it was safe to enter.

Had been on the farm to hunt

Meyer denied being the owner of either the farm or the buffalo, but that these belonged to Tedo Investments.

According to affidavits, Meyer's version of that day's events was different.

He said Lombard had been visiting the farm to hunt.

Lombard had apparently gone into the buffalo enclosure on two different occasions while under the influence of alcohol, and had fed the buffaloes alcohol.

He said Blossom did warn Lombard that the buffalo might attack him, and that Lombard was well-aware of the risk of going into the enclosure.

Lombard had entered the enclosure voluntarity. According to affidavits, the buffalo that attacked Lombard had been clearly aggressive, and Lombard should never have entered the enclosure. Judge N M Mavundla ordered that Tedo Investments be added to the case as another party. Meyer is a director of Tedo.

This is a clasic case of a drunk thinking he is the strongest and bravest man on earth by tempting fate.
He did a stupid thing and should not try and blame somebody else for it. shame

I guess this guy just didn't realize that buff are such nasty drunks . . . . Big Grin

I will say that the ones I have met have seemed plenty dangerous enough when sober. So I have never been tempted to buy a round for the (daga) boys. rotflmo

Seriously, though, this guy needs to sue his parents for product liability. Roll Eyes
