Has anyone hunted for cape buffalo with Luwire safari?? I have booked a hunt there through Grant Adventures. I was told the buffalo and sable hunting was excellent. Tell me the truth friends. Yes, I will enjoy the hunt anyway, but I am looking for a big Buff this time and a 40+ Sable if possible. Thoughts???
Thank you
Tonyman

Never heard of them. Where are they? What area?
That will be the best way to know if they have good buff.

You may try huntingreports.com

There are three reports on Luwire Safaris, two are booked through Grant Adventures. The latest hunt is from 2006.

They have a very good area and at one time they were very smug about being booked up two years out. That was several years ago.

They will be decent on buffalo. You will get your buff. The sable are good and plentiful.

What time of year are you going?

I hunted with them last October. Who will be your PH?

I don't know if Derek will end up hunting you. I would be surprised on a buff, sable hunt. You can kill. Sable are good. It's hunting you might kill a giant but expect around 38" on sable and same on a little better on buff. You won't see big herds of buff.

This area does not have huge numbers of Buffalo so you might work hard for one. There is ok numbers of Sable in the area and Luwire has great Ph's, most of which are Zimbabwean.
Nyassa is a great place.

Tonyman,

I'm booked with Grant on the same hunt in the same areas for Sept '10 but have leopard added. I have a friend that hunted the same hunt in '07 and he's going with me to finish off his big 5 by taking a lion.

The sable that he took is "OK" and he took a respectable buff. I'll try to get some pictures from him and load them up. One note, you may want to pick up a Niassa wilderbeast while you are there. They look like a blue but have a white chevron on the nose.

Never follow a bad move with a stupid move.
