Buffalo kills domestic animals herder By Happy Lazaro From The Arusha Times June 13, 2009 A 35 years old peasant, Baha Shauri resident of Mang’ola in Karatu district died instantly after being attacked by a buffalo while he was grazing his animals. Narrating the incident, the Arusha Regional Police Commander Basilio Matei told reporters, the late Shauri was tending his animals on the borders of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority when an apparently threatened beast outwitted him and gored him to death. The victim had tried to spear the beast but it was faster in action and was on him before he could save himself. The incident took place on June 3 at 11 am in Mokoromba village to the north of Lake Eyasi. Meanwhile, a driver by the name of Michael Ngonyani (30) resident of Sinon Daraja Mbili has been arrested by police after he had knocked down to death a pedestrian Evarista Mariki (54) at Sekei on June 3 at 7 pm. RPC Matei said police believe Ngonyani was negligent as he was allegedly in dangerously high speed while also under the influence of alcohol as he knocked the victim who was on the walking road pavement. As we went to press Evarista’s body was taken to the Mount Meru Regional Hospital morgue and Nyonyani was still in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
