In a period of boredom, I got to thinking of a large buffalo bull that I killed in the Omay area of Zimbabwe a few days after it had gored in the stomach and emasculated a teenage native boy. I suspect some of you have had a hand in sorting out a killer or near killer DG animal. Please tell us the story. 465H&H

"There is a bloody brave little animal in Africa called the honey badger. It may be the meanest animal in the world. It kills for malice and for sport, and it does not go for the jugular - it goes straight for the groin. It has a hell of a lot in common with the modern American woman." from The Honey Badger (1965) by Robert Ruark ![]() -Bob F. ![]()

I have hunted a rogue lion in the north of Namibia. Not a man-eater, but a cattle killer. This lion and the rest of his pride had killed over 60 head of cattle before Vaughan Fulton and I hunted him down and finally killed him. I found that hunting a rogue animal is far more intense and difficult than general hunting. That is true for a whole host of reasons, some of which I expected, but many of which surprised me. When the rogue is a man-eater, the pressure must be even more intense. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
