I know this isn't an African subject but it was a African PH freezing his butt off in the UK. Its a long post with lots of pics. We covered a lot of ground in the UK itself and I saw probarbly more of the UK than the most UK citizens ever will see in their life's in 4 weeks. Didnt have a lot of off time but the little that we had we enjoyed was good. The photos are not in order at all but will tell you what I have seen or some of it. Didnt have too much off time as we did 23 venues in 28 days and a lot of travelling but at least I saw one of the places I really wanted to see one day in my life Stonehendge. The famous Roslynn church from the Da Vinci code One of the malts that goes into Bells whisky Staue of Robert the Bruce, from Braveheart the movie at Stirling Castle Scotland Stirling Castle Scotish Highlands Cannot remeber the name of the Cathedral but the Harry Potter movies was filmed here. Quess ???? The city of Bath The hot spring baths themselves The old Bisley pub as its now called in 1630 it was the Bear Inn, I felt comfortable in the place knowing that people was enjoying a drink here since 1630 Clitheroe in the north of England this was the coldest weather we had. York and York Cathedral. While in York we had a good pint in a place called "Guy Falwkes" the drink was explosive. Ok so part of of tour gave us a stop at a certain Westley Richards gunmaker. Well I couldnt belive it it's not holland and holland but from what I have heard is that not even one of the gunmakers at H&H even hunts. At least the production manager at WR has hunted Africa before and has shot some ele's in his life. So here goes for the photos its gonna be a lot of info and eye candy ! The shop at the bottom of the factory. Spotlessly clean factory floor Sights and ribs for the barrels. Trigger action Filing bit by bit untill it fits the trigger action exactly. As you can see everything is handmade. Stock and action fitting same way everything done slow and made to perfectly fit every indivudual gun. The engraver ! The longest project he had took 4 1/2 years to finish 4 guns mixing gold untill he got the correct colour. Some almost finished products Hey I also want to hold that one please! Three double rilfe rounds from left to right .500 NE .600 NE and a custom ordered and made by WR .500/577 People with too much money ordering things like this. I wonder how good the security is in this place ???? There is a 2-3 1/2 year waiting period for ordering a gun but if you consider the time and work put into it it's worthwhile if you have the money. Some tusks and a half over here. Well I hope you enjoyed it it was a big experience to have been there and with a personal guided tour by the Floor manager which they only mostly do for cutomers it was a big bonus. BTW does anybody know the history of those tusks the guys working the floor at WR have no clue and I forgot to ask the production manager ? Frederik Cocquyt I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

No, they couldnt tell the history of the tusks but did tell me they were real ivory from Loxodonta Africana if my spelling is correct. Frederik Cocquyt I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Frederik, Nice photo tour. You guys did see a good part of the UK. We've spent some time touring there and really enjoyed it. I could not believe in Bath that human feet had actually worn down the rock around the actual bath to that degree and it was covered and unused for many years. Really liked the WR pix. James Peddar is a courier for them and says they really are the premier company in the current British gun trade. Mark MARK H. The WR shop looks as clean as a surgical suite. Tells you something! There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author
