I have not been able to find the answer to my question. My father and I are headed to RSA in July. We are both taking .375s. If we wil out separate SAPS forms, can they be packed in the same case? I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

Yes .... but if they lose that one bag you will not have either gun. I would pack them in separate bags with the ammo for each gun in the same bag as the gun and hope one of the bags arrive. Curious why you are taking .375's to RSA? Nothing at all wrong with it...just wondering if you are after something big. ALLEN W. I agree with Palmer and advise you to pack the rifles seperately. If either arrives you guys can still hunt with a somewhat familiar firearm. If packed together you may be using whatever the PH has in his arsenal. We seldom get to choose But I've seen them go both ways And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory Than to slowly rot away!

The problem here is the 50 lb per item limit. If you pack one gun in a gun case, then you can each take only one other bag less than 50lb. If you put both rifles in one gun case and it will be under 50, you can take 3 more 50 lb bags. The only other way to do it is to use guncases that you can pack other heavy stuff into, like the tuffpak. Thank you all for the advice. I see the upside and downside.
Excellent point. We are only hunting PG. But I bought a .375 a few years ago and have been using it on deer and hogs in Texas with th ehope of it going to Africa one day. Low and behold, I bought a trip at auction. My dad was going to bring a 7STW or 300 RUM to allow us to reach out a little further, but he had to go out and buy a .375 as well. Practical? No, but I think they might fit better in Africa than West Texas. At least if one loses ammo, we still have some backup. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

People are so paranoid, its a wonder any of them even get out of the house... Worst case they loose your rifles and you get them a couple days later. Big deal... I'm sure the PH will have something that will work. I'm half tempted to not ever bother taking a rifle for my next trip. Its getting to be such a friggn hassle I just dont' think its worth it. Good luck on your hunt.

I don't take rifles with me, but I live in Korea so it isn't practical for me. It is much easier to just use my PHs rifles. They're not the prettiest rifles in the world and the optics aren't great; but they do what they are supposed to. They've been used on the farm for years and still put rounds where they are supposed to go. I love not hassling with firearms at the airport and worrying about the case making the trip. My worst case scenario is that all my luggage is 'misplaced' and I have to buy a few changes of clothes in town before we head out. Just my two cents (or 32,000,000 Zim Dollars) worth. Colin

Sort of off the topic, but I usually plan for a couple of days of sightseeing before the hunt to give the bags a chance to catch up if they get lost and also to get over jetlag. It may mean arranging storage for your firearms for a couple of days but your outfitter can arrange this and it relieves some of the stress of getting to the hunting area when you are more wide awake and relaxed.
