Hey guys I deer hunt with a .376 Steyr Pro-Hunter and have some shots at longer ranges (around 300 yards).

I use the factory load with the 225 Hornady sp at 2,570 fps.
I would like to use the Barnes 210 gr. X-bullet but I figure its a little tough.

Which load ?

1.Hornady factory load 225gr. @ 2,570 fps.
2.Barnes X 210gr. @ 2,750 fps.
3.Nosler Accubond BT 260gr. @ 2,500 fps.

Anyone used any of these bullets on game in the 200 pound class ?

Chrome,I just reread and saw deer was the game so ignore the next sentence. You didnt say what type of game and that is what will really make the difference. The x bullets are probably overkill for anything in the size range you are talking. However, use what your gun likes the best. As far as the factory Hornady interlocks go either will be fine. I do find that the heavier 270grn bullet shoots better at the longer ranges than the 225 grn. Unless you are planning to shoot 400 yards or longer it probably dosnt matter. They are within 2 inches of each other out to 300 yards. I dont like to shoot more than 200 yards under normal circumstances so it isnt an issue for me. You can load up some 300 grn bullets as well.

Give the Speer 235gr SP a try. I used to use it in my .375h&h for deer size game.

Ive been using the Speer 235gr this fall for dear and it worked fine until I upped the bulletspeed -now its tearing things a part. Keep the velocity in a moderate range and it works well enough.

Chrome,
I load this, in a 24" custom mauser i did, to 2900+... seems the bullets do hold together better at about 2800, but the 225 was designed for the steyr and HH velocities, and is MEANT to be driven fast, rather than most light .375s, which are meant for the 375 win.

You could get 2800, np, with this bullet, and have a long range plains game, northa american game rifle, and the 300s at 2450 hit about the same spot at 50 yards
