i have been asked to do presentation on african hunting to a local mens club, largely professionals. there will be about 100 guys, and i am asked to talk about dangerous game hunting. ther may be at best a dozen hunters among the crowd, and i want to make the 45 min talk interesting and educational for all. Any help with pictures or videos of animal charges would be appreciated.Any humorous or unique episodes or suggestions would be welcome too! Please identify youself if you like, and credit will be given. Please email to niazi.md@gmail.com, or PM me and I will send you a disk drive to put it on.
Thanks guys (and gals!)

Emron:
DG hunting is so much more than a discussion of charges, whether it be elephant, buffalo, leopard, hippo or lion. Especially to a group of people not so familiar with such hunting, I recommend making animal charges just a small part of your discussion. There are plenty other ways to make it interesting and educational.

marc ,
i agree completely , showing a lot of charge photos without very careful and detailed first hand knowledge and explanation is a veritable minefield .

thank you all! comments much appreciated. i have done 6 dg safaris, but never had to encounter a charge. my hope is to introduce the non-hunting crowd to the unique life-style of going on safari, and give a flavor of africa in general. i plan to start with the problem of elephant over-population in southern africa, its effects on the animals (ron thompsons book was invaluable) and the go on to describe what a family group or a group of friends could expect to see on safari. To liven up the proceedings, i hope to show some videos of DG charges. I do have the CM discs, but my computer savy does not extend to downloading scenes etc from them into a powerpoint presentation.'i could ask my 14 yr old son, but the price i would pay would likely exceed the cost of a safari!
I wil contact boddington and carter as suggested. in the interim, are there any especially vivid or exciting memories you guys have of exciting moments in your safari?? any spectacular photographs? Any humorous incident (Like my son putting saran wrap on the toilets of the lady members on our last safari, when they returned from their extendedt late night game viewing trip!)

Personally I would show the benefits to the locals and spend some time on the managament aspect as well. Giving a balanced picture. Often times non-hunters will see photos on my office wall of me with X animal and refrain from comment, until they see the pic of the villages and locals, especially the kids. It opens the door for a decent conversation and some education to those who just dont know.
