Something I have never heard discussed is the topic of Hippo maturity. What I mean by that is....how long does it take for a bull hippo to reach trophy size? (with tusks that protrude into the upper lip, causing the "bumps" on the side of his nose associated with trophy bulls)

Th big bulls are just bigger ? If that makes any sense.Broader heads and necks.

Field judging is tough unless you get a nice long yawn.Also remember that what you see is normally only half the tusk, the rest is hidden.
not actually sure when they mature or after how many years etc.
