Just reading through the hunt reports it is more and more obvious that large privately owned blocks of land, a large percentage of which are fenced, in a number of African countries are producing fantastic safaris. Be it in RSA, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana or Namibia

Long may this trend continue and the number of conservancies grow, it gives real hope for the future of our wildlife and sustainable utilisation

I recently returned from RSA, where everything is fenced. One area that we hunted was 250,000 acres, another 150,000 acres. The others nearly as large. Plenty of areas for the animals to hide and excape in each instance.
I personally have no problem hunting in these areas.

Could you give us more details on these areas? Any dangerous game in any of these areas?

Sante Asana near Port Elizabeth and Dave Davenport (Leopards Valley Safari) is quite large and houses Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. I've seen all three there plus Sable, Giraffe and the normal host of plains game.

I'm not sure exactly how many tens or hundreds of thousands of acres it is there but it is plenty big enough for me to not have any Fair Chase issues. I've been beat there by more than a few game critters there.

The areas that I was referring to were in the Grahamstown area, one West of town about 45 minutes and the other was East of town about 30 minutes. I was hunting with Settlers Safaris. No DG in either place.
Settlers Safaris does hunt DG, but not at these areas.
