MattMckEastern Cape
I understand an often quoted critisism of hunting in SA is that it is not comparible to free roaming parts of Africa such as areas of Botswana, Tanzania, Zim, Namibia etc. Are there areas of the Eastern Cape that could be considered comparable in regards to hunting however?
Thanks guys.
Matt

L. David KeithMatt, much of RSA is privately owned. However, there are some farms that have joined in conservancy's that encompasses vast acreage. Some can total tens of thousands of acres, and some of these are only low fenced (live stock fences). Hunting such areas can be rewarding and with some, difficult to navigate. If your hunting and not riding around all the time, your experience can be very good. The Eastern Cape also offers a great variety of game as well. I have hunted two mountain ranges for Vaal Rhebok and have yet to shoot one. The hunting is tough as the terrain, but one day...
Cheers,
David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Die Ou JagterDavid, did you get close to a Vaaly? That is my reason to return to the Cape or Natal Midlands. Until then the Pygmy's keep calling. Less than a month now.

graybirdHere is my
report last year in the Eastern Cape with Andrew Renton and Kei River Safaris.
Take a look at a couple of the terrain pictures and let me know what you think! It is absolutely HUGE country!!!

Tom In TennesseeI have killed the East Cape indigenous species....all but my Vallie and Klippie were taken on Conservancies with no fence higher than a cattle fence and it was hard rewarding hunting. The Vallie was on a high fence private farm---two adjoining properties of only 100,000 ac or more and I worked harder for it than any except the Klippie taken on the same property..

L. David KeithDOJ, first hunt I was within 600 yards of a ram, but turned him down. Second hunt, I was within 250-500 yards on several rams but again, turned them down. I am looking for old, over the hill rams. Patience. Good luck Ed!
