I was at the Houston Safari Club Convention today and saw the SportEAR booth. I have been wanting to get a pair of custom digital ear buds, but not sure of the brand. These things are pretty pricey. I'd hate to buy the wrong ones.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

I've got a pair of ISPs. Have used them for years for everything from the range to Argentina for birds and big game in Africa. Great product.

Jack Homa (owner) is known for superior customer service and I have experienced it first hand.

He is typically at SCI.

Was that ESP or ISP? If ISP, I can't find a product reference for that. Will be at SCI and looking for something like this. Appreciate the post !

I am using the "Ears" brand. basically the same thing. They seem to do as advertised, at least for me.

I use sport ears brand for high volume/full auto shooting. I have lost some hearing, and don't care to lose any more. I have had this pair since SCI '07. Sent back after right side quit working in '09. Got them back and have not had a problem since(they did not charge me a dime to fix). Not bulky and do not get in the way of a proper check weld like the big ear muffs. Mine have 4 modes, suited from stand hunting to the knob creek shoot. I would recommend them.

Boarkiller, not sure I will call wearing hearing protection pansy. At 52 years old and permanent ringing in my ears from lack of shooting over the years unprotected. So while hunting, I shoot 15-25 rifle shots per year in the woods, I thought it would be nice to have protection that allowed me to hear and not be deaf to foot falls.
To OP, I do not use sport ear, my local audiologist office and she fitted me for a set. I love them

I got a pair of Sound Gear. They do not help my hearing because it is already too bad. What they do do is protect what I have left. Other people put em in and say WOW! They fit in the ear not behind it. Protection is not a high as others but they are simple and the price was right! Read about them on Long Range Hunting.

I have a pair of SportEAR Custom 30's. Got fitted at SCI 5-6 yrs ago.

They are great, I wear them primarily when hunting or shooting with my

shotguns. Took them to Argentina & were very comfortable to shoot

in (much more comfortable than ear muffs). For shooting rifles I tend to

still use the ear muffs & often the small foam ear plugs. The SportEAR's allow

you to hear normal converstion pretty well. Real windy days are a bit

annoying & loud, but you can always turn them down in those situations.

Overall pretty happy with them, a bit pricey but they work.

Hope this helps,

Jim

After trashing the hearing in my left year with years of gunfire, I bought ESPs last fall. I can very comfortably wear them all day in the duck boat, carry on conversations, and protect my ears at the same time.

Owner Jack Homa delivers great service.

I purchased a pair of the GhostStrykes from the SportEar Representative at Cowboy Christmas here in Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo in December. He gave me a deal on them. I have not tried them out yet, but they fit nicely.

I can pretty much say the same as jungleboy. I bought my sport ears around the same time and use them for all gun shooting.

Once you wear them a bit, it is no problem to have them I all day on safari. I thought it would suck in the heAt but it was just fine. Way better than continuing to lose hearing. That is one thing you can't get back and I do not regret the coat of buying one bit. Also had to get men fixed once but it only cost me the shipping, likely because I live in canada. The are definitely a little annoying I the wind or walking in dry, loud grass. Still worth wearing at all times when hunting.

I have a set of the Sport Ear Microblast 30's and they've been fantastic. I got them on sale about 3 years ago and other than the occasional battery they have been stellar.

My wife has a set of the Sport Ear SelectAFit - they are not my favorite. The ear piece is hard rubber and not comfortable at all to me. We had to modify the tips with some earbud style sound blocking tips and that made it bearable.

All I can say is that I just won't hunt without them.

Regards,

Robert

They have been the best ear protection i have ever bought. Use them for rifle and shotgun comfortable and helps enhance noises if needed.
