How long does it take for a wart hog to grow trophy size tusks.
I arrowed a very large one in Zim several years ago. Then hunted twice in SA and never saw anything close to the same size.
Just wondering.

df06,

This doesn't exactly answer your question and tusk length is of course dependent on age as is genetics. Also the warthog uses its tusks to dig in the ground so a very old warthog that lives in rocky terrain can have quite short tusk where the same warthog living in a sandy environment can have huge tusks. The ground just wears them differently. When I went to Coutada 9 in Mozambique I was blown away as every adult boar had huge teeth far better than anything I'd ever seen before. 15"-17" is not unusual there where 10"-11" might be a big boar somewhere else.
