Orxy mounts
Does anyone have a picture of their gemsbuck mount. all I've seen have those big ears sticking out at 90 degrees from the head. They are a beautiful animal, must be some cool poses to put them in.

A oryx euro/skull mount looks very good too, and saves some space if your ceiling isn't high enough for a shoulder mount (with the long oryx horns, this can be a concern for some houses). For should mounts, a slight turn left or right is always a good idea IMO. I'll see if I can find some pictures.

hhmag,
The full size oryx mounts look great.

I had my shoulder mount done with the head looking to the left. Now I just need to find where I am going to put it. The ceilings in Army housing barely hit 8'. If I put hm over the couch he may be sitting in my lap.

In a few years, I'll go into the Kalahari after one of those, springbok and black wildebeest. Currently, I'm seriously thinking of having had pedestal mount with the head/shoulder done in the kind of position as that of a chess knight. I think it will be very impressive with those two lances aimed at the ceiling.

Were I to do a shoulder mt of a gemsbok or large kudu, I would do them as pedistals for the simple reason of being able to vary the pedistal heights to clear ceilings. They also look more natural to be mounted at actual height from the ground rather than way up on a high wall. It allows people viewing them to get closer and see what the top of the head looks like. I prefer the pedistals, and I also like half mounts where it looks as if they are stepping from the wall. With some creative painting and a few plants it makes for an impressive display and does not take up much more room than a long shoulder mt on the wall.
