Haven't been in years, thought of it a couple months ago as all the big shows have left the West Coast... so we're going to attend this year. Pleasantly surprised to see that Worldwide Trophy Adventures, Hunting Consortium, and quite a few others I'd like to chat with will be there. Any other AR members going?

No, I have not taken that show into consideration. They gave me a membership last year. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> "You've got the strongest hand in the world. That's right. Your hand. The hand that marks the ballot. The hand that pulls the voting lever. Use it, will you" John Wayne

Been once. Not going back and I am one of the upper level members. Reasons - 1. It is Reno 2. It is Reno in the winter. 3. It is Reno, in a smoky as heck casino. 4. It is Reno and a massive money grab. 5. It is Reno.... 6. And the cost to hunt any sheep is over $30,000. Aoudad are pushing $10k. 7. I went on a hunt recommended by a Weatherby Award winner - total, unmitigated illegal disaster.... Nope, not going....

LOL dogcat, roger that. I would much prefer Vegas, but Reno is an hour less drive for me. I like Reno, though. There's a lot of good dining there. Whether Vegas or Reno, I can stay cheap or free at the Caesars properties. The nicer properties are not so smoky any more. As of tomorrow night, I'll be sitting in a lounge burning a nice cigar to do my part. I'm quite interested in Mouflon in Europe or Argentina. Under $10k for sure. Never hunted either place. I have a Dall's and a Desert, unless I can draw a Rocky tag (or win a raffle) I'm highly unlikely to get another North American ram. Those prices got out of control.

I’ll be there on Saturday. Going to drive over for the day. Weather is clear, temps are relatively mild (40’s), the only snow is on the mountains, nothing around town. The weather in Reno this week is nicer than it’ll be in Nashville next week. Certainly better than Atlanta or Dallas were last week.

I had a guy wanting Auodad recently and you’re right about those prices skyrocketing. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

Best bargain is muflon sheep in Europe but with this sheep craze and already affecting most ibex, Europe muflons may not be bargains for long

I am not but my daughter is working a booth. Where is everyone hanging out at after the Show? Peppermill or Atlantis?

Correct. Plus they get hammered by wolfs all over Europe!

That’s what I’m hearing, that once they hit the herds they pretty much evaporate them You guys over there just need to shoot them wolves on sight

I went to the Sheep Show yesterday and thought it was very good. Good crowd! Lots of booths seemed busy. For me the best part was talking to people whom I planned on discussing hunts with (John Porter of Wyoming, Bighorns) and people I’m acquainted with whom I ran into unexpectedly. It was nice to discuss Caprivi Elephants with Karl Stumpf. Visited a bit with Tom Opre, who’s been a speaker at our last two Mzuri Wildlife Foundation fundraisers. His new film, “The Last Keeper” is worth watching. It’s about the challenges the Scottish Gamekeepers and estates are facing. Also, Sue Tidwell Coyle, author of “Cries of the Savannah”. She is our speaker for this year’s Mzuri dinner in Monterey. Finally, I had a productive conversation with Ludo Wurfbain of Rowland Ward. Ludo is a fascinating fellow. I’m hoping to add him as a second speaker for the Mzuri Dinner on March 29.
