Atticus, Bruce Truter is one of the old school PH's and you could not have found better. His reputation is well known in South Africa, and the glowing recommendations are accurate. As far as I know, Bruce is only into walk-and-stalk hunting.

If he's a walk-and-stalk guy, then he's AOK with me!

Atticus, Ask Bruce if his well written books are part of the deal. A word of caution is that you might not be able to stop giggling. He has written a book called "How not to hunt pigs" a master piece in my opinion.

Truter is the real deal. He is well-known (maybe not so well-liked) for his pragmatic ideas on conservation and hunting ethics, and his writing is inimitable. I would consider myself honoured to share his camp.

Thank you all for your assistance. I am glad this board was recommended to me. I have sent Bruce an e-mail to set up my first African hunt. I have ordered two of his books as part of my back ground reading for the trip and am looking forward to reading them. Frankly, I expected these responses after I spoke to his references and read his e-mails. He sounds like an honest man and my kind of guide/hunter. When I told him my interest is fair chase hunting rather that trophies, he was pleased and went on to mention that he did not have good fair chase for one of my chosen species and recommended changing to another. I like that type of honest answer. I will be hunting for Kudu, Impala and (hopefully) Blue Wildebeest. That said, I am much more interested in the African hunting experience and seeing the variety of game that Africa has to offer. This is going to be great!
