I understand that both countries are great for hunting...but what are the pros and cons...?
Zim is a political mess....what about Zambia..?

I am thinking buffalo, ele, hippo and perhaps some additional plainsgame..

Where should I go and why..?

Pondoro,

Hunting in Zambia is limited at this time as the majority of the GMAs are closed and elephant isn't viable there. The areas that are still open can be very good for buffalo and hippo plus the Luangwa Valley is one of my favor places in Africa. The Kafue area on private property is good for buffalo plus a variety of excellent PG. Hippo can be a mission though.

Zimbabwe continues to have some problems but the hunting is still excellent in many areas and a good buffalo, elephant bull and hippo can be arrange quite easily on the same safari.

No elephant unfortunately.

Thor Kirchner (poacher458) has hippo in the Luangwa but not sure if he has not sold his buff? He is in Denmark at the moment.

I have buff but cannot guarantee Hippo.

In a nutshell Zambia has a wide array of species which either do not occur or are not hunted in Zimbabwe - Roan, Kafue & Black Lechwe, Sitatunga, Tsessebe, L. Hartebeest, Cookson's Wildebeest, Puku, Crawshay's Defassa Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Oribi and the diminutive Blue Duiker.

The main hunting blocks are split between the verdant cool plateaus of the Kafue River basin and the warmer Luangwa valley. A majority of the country is covered in Miombo woodlands.

Of the large antelope species Roan, Sable and L.Hartebeest are the main attraction and the trophy quality is excellent.

Hi Pondoro

In Zim there are many great operators that can offer you all 3 animals but at the moment you can't import your elephant into the States but hopefully that will be sorted out soon. If you hunt in the Zambezi Valley the plains game is not great but if you hunt on one of the conservancies like Save or Bubi or Nuanetsi then you can collect a large variety of plains game. I am sure Dave Fulson at Safari Classics can help you out with any questions you have or just PM me.

Cheers

Hi Pondoro

Sorry I see you are from Norway so it should not be a problem to import your elephant trophy from Zim. The Zambezi Valley is a typical dangerous game area and good hunting. Their are several operators there that can offer you that type of safari. Chifuti safari in Chewore North is a good option. Charlton Mccullum safaris is another good option in Dande North.

Cheers
