Need recommendation for place in SA near Kruger
Can anyone give me a recommendation for a game farm or PH near Kruger NP? I'm looking for a place to do a 5-7 day hunt at a location roughly between Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit.

what's your time frame? I can recommend several if they are not already booked.

David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Email Johann Herman with Rigby Big game Safaris. He is lives in Phalaborwa and specializes in dangerous game. He can help you with that or point you in the right direction for a PG safari. I hunted buffalo, elephant and hippo over the last two years. Good guy

I would recommend Jan Dumon at mwshumba@mweb.co.za who has a very nice camp near Hoedspruit and has hunting area in the "Greater Kruger" meaning properties bordering the Kruger with no fences.

We don't do much in that area but you could do no better than to go to Luan who posts here.

If you want to add a buffalo and don't mind just crossing the border, you should try .458Aubs who is also a member here.

ya but when you contact Steve or his friends use small words. so they don't break the crayons when they try to write you a reply rotflmo

I should have added that you shouldn't let Luan take you croc fishing because he likes to throw the fishing tackle in the river instead of pulling the flatdogs out of it! fishing rotflmo

I've hunted twice with Spear Safaris out of Hoedspruit.. Their property borders Kruger.

I've seen the big 5 out there in addition to cheetah and hippo.

Good people too.

I would second Spear Safaris. They have several properties in the Hoedspruit to Phalaborwa area, and can accomodate nearly any need you'd have. We were very impressed with them last year, and would not hesitate to hunt with them again. If you're after Kudu, they have one fabulous property they hunt near Phalaborwa that has an abundance of big bulls. www.spearsafaris.com

I would recommend contacting Pieter Kriel. He has a camp just outside of Ohrigstad.

For the best of everything, including the folks who own and run the company you can't beat Mafigeni. They have a beautiful place near Kruger. Totally a wonderful experience.

Let me second the recommendation for JJ Hack (Jim Hackiewicz) at www.huntingadventures.net. Jim is also the moderator of the African forum at www.24hourcampfire.com and he's an American and a PH in RSA. Jim lives in Washington State so you can talk to him directly if you so choose. I've hunted with him twice in RSA and he runs an excellent operation. Believe me, he'll go the extra mile to make your trip successful.

I had a great hunt with Johan Hermann. He has multiple concenssions in that area. My friend and I each shot old heavy bossed buffalo bulls just at the edge of Kruger with him and on his concession near Hudspruit I shot a 13plus croc and an old black giraffe. My friend shot a nice hyena and a huge bush buck. They have great waterbuck as well. He and his wife are great people and extremely honest. I plan to hunt with him again. he has great plains game as well. I was mostly hunting dangerous game on this trip

Endorse this recommendation. Have hunted with Jan and his PH, Eddie O'Reilly. He can do dangerous game and has access to plains game in the greater region.

The town of Hoedspruit has a very good restaurant, The Hat and Creek, and a fine art gallery and separate mall with high end leather, linens and a nice car collection (some repros).
