A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

Really sad news...its is really suprising on how fast things change, just 3-5 years ago the dafari industry looked to be getting stronger every day...now looks like we maybe left with Nambia and S. Africa as sound options in the future for hunting--

If there are 3,500 cats in Zambia--half are female--half are breeding age, and they litter at least 3 each, and they have a 30% survive rate rate then you subtract 55 that are hunted and killed due to hunting--then---you should still be positive around 700 cats--and richer over $3,000,000.

What a bummer! Another place I will not get to hunt! Mad

Mozambique has been coming on stronger than any African Safari Country during the past 10 years.

We need Angola to atleast start up some exploratory safaris in the SE to get the ball rolling.

Wouldnt it be something if the old Portuguese colonies returned to their former status circa late 1950's thu 1974...we need it now worse than ever.

It would be great and we really need it.
Mozambique has already now quite a few excellent areas beeing in the Tchuma tchato program (Tete- Cahora Bassa ) , Niassa and in the Marromeu complex.
Outfitters are top notch and i am sure Moz will even be much better in the near futur.
As far as Angola.....different people......who knows in 3 to 4 years.....there are some movements !

Do not bank on South Africa for much longer. All the hot air aside, that the game industry is safe and brings in foreign exchange, blah blah, just take note of the recent utterings of the Afro Socialist mob that "rule" [ huh, oxymoron] South Africa. Apart from spending some R230 million of SA tax payers monies on his private dwelling, the President, at the 101st ANC birthday bash [wonder who paid] this past weekend, stated that it was now Government policy that the willing seller / willing buyer would be replaced by EX-APPROPIATION. i.e, the State will take the property and pay the valuation it decides. This to ensure that black South Africans are the majoritity land owners. The sad part is that the farms already purchased by the State and given to black tenents are reverting back to bush and are no longer productive. My old place is now just foundations and concrete floors.

I really believe a few areas such as Coutada 11 are approaching their former glory. There are also a couple of very good areas that adjoin either Kruger Park (SA) or Gonarhezou (Zim) that are excellent as well. The central Zambezi Coutada's (C9, C13, C7) have started recovery within the last 7 years or so...mainly C9.Simon Rogers area (Cabora Bassa-South Bank) is excellent. The Gorongosa National Park is in the midst of a major restoration. I would now like to see some attention paid to the old Save concessions, namely C5, that adjoin the Zinave NP.

From what I have heard SE Angola has the game populations adjoining the Luiana PR to begin hunting but paperwork/politics is the issue...time will tell..I think it will happen within 5 years.
