I'm staying at the Adolphus. It's easy walking distance from the convention center. Beats the Omni, in my opinion, on several fronts. First, It has two restaurants (three actually, but one is so ridiculously expensive that you can forget it), while the Omni has a like amount, but no other options and a whole lot of people competing. Second, it is in downtown and you have other options and don't have to walk past the bus station and homeless people after dark to get there. Third, you don't have an hour wait for a taxi. Fourth, Two bars, no wait for a drink. And, finally, while not a problem last year, no teeny-bopper cheerleaders.

Call Lynda at DSC, 972-980-9800 as she knows the preferred hotel list, transport info, costs etc... she is the girl that can really help. Dave Fulson

Dave is correct, Lynda is the one to contact and we have rented the entire convention center for the three years, so no more teeny bopper cheerleaders or anyone else will be having a convention at the same time as DSC. Hope to see many of you in January. Karl Evans

Holiday Inn Market Center. Stayed there two years ago and have reservations this year. Shuttle runs and there is a little café next door that has good home cooking, great breakfast.

As Karl and Dave said, there is a preferred list. Adolphus and Magnolia might be on it. The Adolphus has history to it. I believe it was the first "skyscraper" in Dallas financed by Adolphus Busch of Budweiser fame. There is a rumor that it might be haunted. The French Room is a 5 star restaurant and you must wear a sport coat or something like that. Yes, it's expensive. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

DSC Member: I really like the Adolphus. Stay there often. Never heard it was haunted and never saw any evidence of that. The French Room is incredibly expensive. I've only been there once. I had a client ask me to take her there and after two bottles of wine, a soup course, salad, main course and desert, I was shocked. I'm hard to shock. She was a very good client.

It's interesting. I don't believe in that stuff, but I think it's about a jilted bride. The Adolphus is a wonderful hotel. I don't mean to spook anyone, but it has a great history. Many friends stay there. Yes, lavaca, that was likely a very good client. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS
