Just about anything with an operator not from Zim unless it is with one of the guys on this thread.

Good advice.

Of my 10 or 11 safaris (not all in Zim), CMS has been the best.

Good hunting

I have had good hunts with Mokore.

As for others not previously cited, I have hunted with Brian Van Blerk who deserves 5 stars.

I would also not hesitate to hunt with Cliff Walker.

AR is a fantastic source of info specially in the hunt report section as you get a clear idea on what to expect from the operators and about the feedback from our members, I have never been to Africa but from the reports, feedback comments etc I would not hesitate to hunt with
- CMS
- Martin Nel
- Zambezi Hunters
- Martin Pieters
- John Sharp
- Shaun Bufee
- Brent Hein
- Cliff Walker
- Russ Broom
- Peter Barnard
- Matapula Hunters
- Brian Van Blerk
- SSG
- Guav Johnson

There are many more but from those I have really never (or rarely) heard negative stuff and have seen mainly good feedback by satisfied clients

Every one of the names listed here is a first-class professional. It's also worth mentioning that the Safari Operators' Association does a lot of hard work to maintain standards, and they are also a resource that can be used to make enquiries.

For Zim to be such a corrupt country, it sure has some fine PH's to it's credit.
Going to Zim was a hard decision for me since the political climate is in such terrible shape, thankfully I went anyway. It was a magnificent adventure & I long to go again someday.
That Labat fellow had a lot to do with the fun of it all.

+1 for Deano and Lance. If they're involved, you've nothing to worry about other than Africa itself.

I'm biased though - they have become personal friends of mine through the years.

I'll also add Tanya Blake to the list. She was an appy with Pro Safaris if I remember correctly. As far as I know, she's also the only licensed lady PH in Zim.

Yes, if you get Dean and Lance PHing together, like Bwanna and I did in the Zambezi Valley, it is nothing short of fantastic, sprinkled with comedy and a ton of fun! tu2

I have hunted 13elephants (11 in zim)4 buffalos (3 in zim)2 leopards in zim,2 lions in zim plus plainsgame, birdshooting and tigerfishing. 17 hunting safaris plus 5 dental safaris asked my wife to marry me there, had my bachelors party and hooneymoon there. All but one with matupula safaris, they rock! I consider Mark Butcher family( he is like my big brother) you cannot go wrong with them. If you want a big elephant or a big leopard contact them.
Have hunted also de selous once, Cameroon 3 times,Namibia once, SA 3 times and fished in Moz senegal and morocco. Nothing like matupula safaris and his team. Hhk in 2006 was only saved by a very profesional ph( pierre van Wyk) ther rest was....

+1 for Guav Johnson. Have done two safaris with him (buff and tuskless) and only have great things to say.

He has good genetics for a PH since he dad is still a PH after 30 something years.

Saving for my third trip with Guav.

Have hunted with Spike Claassen 4 times in Zim. Very knowledgeable, and will expend every effort to make your hunt a success.
He's currently with Pro-Saf, and Louis does a great job running the show there.

Phil without a doubt. So much I'm headed back to hunt leopard with him next May. Down to earth and hard working, but don't let him know that

After 21 safaris in 8 sub-Saharan countries over the past 21 years, and never more than two safaris with the same outfitter, I've had some excellent safari experiences and a couple not so much.

Over the past 5 years I've done 3 of 5 with Chifuti Safaris. I consider them to be the most professionally run operation with some of the very best PHs in the industry - the loss of PHs Owain Lewis and Ian Gibson over the past three years, to Buff and Ele respectively, was a tragedy.

Chifuti's exclusive USA booking agent is Safari Classics, the producers of Tracks Across Africa, etc. Dave Fulson and Tim Danklef are well known here on AR and can be counted upon to meet your safari needs.

It's hard to go wrong with CMS, Buzz, Miles, and a great group of PHs. I also like Jannie Meyer, and Buffalo Trails Safaris. I understand Jannie was named hunter of the year in Zim.

I hunted with his father in Moz.
It was one of the best trips i have taken. He is one of the hardest hunter that i have met. I know Johnnie is licensed in Zim but i don't think he hunts there very much.
Heard a lot of stories about Guav when i was there. Those two are quite a pair of professionals.

Corris Ferreira at Track-A-Hunt Safaris in Gache Gache Campfire Area. Great camp, 5 star meals and lots of Buffalo, Hippo, croc and ele. Lots of tiger, vendu and bream fishing in Lake Kariba after your tags are filled. Corris has a great relationship with the people living in the area and he is a great guy to spend time with in the bush. Myself and a companion both shot our buffalo on the second day but Corris spent the rest of the time taking us out for zebra, guinea fowl, etc. and even arranged a bass fishing trip for us.

Frik Jr and Louis Muller of Pro Safaris in Bulawayo are first rate. Ive hunted with the company and their Dad since 1988. I've taken all the game available in Zim. Louis is or was the most recent President of the PHASA of Zimbabwe. Wonderful people who have the Rifa Concession in the valley. Highly Recommended.
