Because it was an act perpetrated by indigenous peoples trying to observe their religion, not by a wealthy hunter looking for a trophy and having lots of pictures being taken to show off the accomplishment.

It will not surprise me if some of the Animal Rights folks don't get on Social Media and claim the animals are better off and the owner should be ashamed of himself for keeping the animals captive.

Those are my guesses.
