ZAWA smallBy PERPETUAL SICHIKWENKWE -

Easy Wild Game Capture Services Limited has sued the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) over its alleged failure to pay it more than K657,000 after it translocated 550 species of wild animals to different parts of the country.
The company has since asked the Lusaka High court to order ZAWA to pay the K657,620.00 outstanding money due to it for the work already done.
It wants ZAWA to be ordered to pay damages to be assessed on breach of contract and loss of business.
Easy Wild Game Capture Services Limited formally known as Muchinga Wild Game Capture Services Limited stated in a writ of summons filed in the principal registry that it is in the business of wild life translocation services.

By an agreement made on July 31, 2012 with ZAWA, it was agreed that the company translocate 550 wild animals of different species to Lusaka and Mosi-o-tunya park for which services ZAWA was to pay the sum of K3,942,300.
The company initially completed the translocation service worthy K1 944 120 out of which sum ZAWA paid K1, 450. 000 to ZAWA leaving a balance of K494, 120. 00. A further translocation services worth k163, 500 was carried out which ZAWA has not paid for todate.
The works were within the contracted sum of K3,942,300 as stipulated in the offer by ZAWA which it accepted.
ZAWA has not only failed to pay the outstanding balance of K657,620 for the work already done but has also prevented it from completing the work contrary to the agreement.
The company alleged that ZAWA proceeded to give the work to another company thereby denying it business which had already been contracted to be done by it which conduct is in total breach of the agreement.
Despite numerous reminders to honour its part of the bargain by paying for the services already rendered as well as allowing it to complete the contract, ZAWA has failed, disregarded and neglected to do so.

Sounds like ZAWA needs to sell some cats.

The two year ban on hunting and the loss of incomes and Operator/PH support in the Game Management Areas has crippled ZAWA.

I would love to 'contribute' some monetary support to ZAWA's financial problems. The government needs to listen to Andrew's suggestion.
