7x57 on leopard?

I hunted leopard last summer. Over the bait my 9.3x74R was too much gun as the bullet punched a little hole going in, and a little hole going out. Not much expansion. I have an FN in 7x57 that I thought about bringing on that hunt as I knew a leopard was the biggest thing I was interested in shooting. I wished I had done that. I think most of us consider a 7x57 as a small gun for Africa. It is great for most Namibian plains game and if I ever go for leopard again I think I'll take that gun.

I used my Model 70 7x57 to take a leopard on the ground in Zimbabwe at 47 yards. Shot carefully immediately behind the shoulder broadside with a 120 grain Ballistic Tip rolling at 3170fps at the muzzle, there was a 7mm hole in; froth filling the chest, and a small fragment of jacket in the offside interior chest wall. He simply collapsed. No tracking, no bloodtrail, and the taxidermist was pleased that there was nothing to repair. They aren't much different than shooting a whitetail.
