Main quarry would be buffalo...most of the sources I read suggest I "check the legality of the 9.3" but I can't seem to figure that out. Anyone know off hand where the 9.3 is NOT legal for Cape Buffalo?

Thanks!

I have always been told that the minimum for buffalo in Botswana is 375. Someone who books there can probably say for sure, but that is what I believe is the case.

I think Tanzania has a 375 minimum too, but could easily be wrong. Most minimums are seen as "guidlines" in reality though.

I believe it would be illegal in Tanzania and most certainly in Kenya. And although I doubt you would have a problem using one in Tanz, you might run into problems using one in Kenya.

Oz,

A .243w or a 577NE are both equally illegal in Kenya today. But, in the day, 40 cal was minimum, as you imply.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't Kenya "no kill?"

Helgaard, sorry to correct you, but that is not true. The minimm is 5400 Joules, or about 3978 ft/lbs, so the 9.3x74 could possibly make it with hand loads. A .338 Win Mag or a 8x68 S does make the energy factor easily though.
