Uganda: Soldier Gets 10 Years for Poaching Chris Ocowun 18 May 2009 Kampala — THE UPDF 4th Division disciplinary committee in Gulu Barracks on Tuesday convicted Pte. James Ojok to 10 years imprisonment for poaching. His civilian accomplices, Sam Ogwang, Rajab Mateo and Kames Ojok were jailed for eight years each. Court heard that in January, Ojok, then attached to the Alpha Battalion in Amuru district, used his gun loaded with 180 bullets to hunt wild animals in the Murchison Falls National Park. Ojok failed to account for 77 bullets at the time of his arrest, the army's regional spokesperson, Capt. Ronald Kakurungu, said in a statement on Friday.
