I am just trying to find out if there are any safari or gun shows/conventions in Africa. I am sure that there must be, but would appreciate any information on locations, dates, value, etc.
thankyou in advance.

Myself and three others are flying into Jo'burg on the 30th of March. The show looks interesting.

Shakari,
Do you know if there are any purchase restrictions on non-citizens? (Obviously purchasing and exporting firearms out of there would be a miserable chore, if it was even possible to do it.)

it is easier for a non citizen to get a rifle here than for a citizen it is basicaly getting the import and export permits

Sue,

Firearms and ammo aside, you can bu pretty much anything you want. That said, things like GPS, cameras and computers are cheaper in the States or UK than they are here.

With firearms, although you can buy them here, you can't export them yourself and have to have the dealer export them to you.

It's an enjoyable show but not usually particularly big...... but if you're going to be in the area, I'd strongly recommend a visit. It sure as hell beats just sitting in a hotel!

Steve: Pierre van der Walt is a friend of mine, but I didn't know he posted here. What screen name does he use? I know what his email name is. Is it the same?

Steve,

Thanks for the information on the AIM show. Are there no other shows during the year? I was hoping that there would be a few more than that so as to provide good opportunities to exhibit products from the company I work for.

cheers,
Bob

Bill,

I can't remember the name he uses, but FWIW, he's not a regular poster by a long chalk. Sorry I can't help further......

Bob,

As far as I know, the AIM show is about it...... but PM sent.
