AR members,

I'm just back in from Dallas from previewing the new "Boddington On Elephant" (with Ivan Carter) 2 DVD set Due out today, Mon. November 17.

All I can say is - Hang on to your ammo belts!!! This thing is full of action! (featuring your's truly).

The cool thing is that it shows tons of hunting footage on disc #!, then the full "how-to" on disc #2. What's even cooler, is that the "How-to" portion (disc #2) is menu driven so that you can cut to the parts the you find the most interesting / useful to your specific wants / needs.

Safaric Classics has done a great job in bringing out a hunting DVD that will define this genre going forward. Perfect for the budding elephant hunter, thrill seeker, or veteran that needs a "tune-up" before the next big trip. Even if you never plan to hunt jumbos, it's a lot of fun to watch.

The other cool thing is that it features members of this forum getting'er done"! You guys will love it!

Excitement, information and an overall high degree of proefessional production make this the best Hunting DVD I've seen yet.

See for yourself!

hi people !
i just got back from africa yesterday , it was a big day for us ... We recieved all the DVDs and sent out to all the orders so they should be arriving on your doorstep pretty soon.

Actually after literally years of filming and countless hours of editing and wading through footage we are very proud to have finally gotten the production out and ready ... there is lots of action , lots of information and we are looking forward to hearing what you guys think of it ...

thanks for the comments jeff , here are a couple of scenes pulled from the dvd ... from when jeff and i were hunting Chewore this year ... we covered several hundred kilometers and jeff took some great buff as well as the elephants !

this cow jeff stopped at three yards , a big old tuskless he brained her perfectly with his 600...no such thing as too much gun !!

this one was a belligerent cow following on behind a herd with a tuskless in it , she suddenly turned and came ...quite a moment , i had my .577 and killed her at 2 yards. its great footage , the cameraman , Fiorenzo Palermo did an awesome job ... as many of you will see ...rock steady and full frame ...its never good as a PH to have to shoot something in self defense , but when it does happen , it happens fast and seldom is everything in place for it to be captured...

Oh, brother. Three yards, then two yards, then in the mouth of the elephant! Is the "muzzles touching the tonsils" in there somewhere? Smiler

Will , i downloaded my rifle ammo like everyone here told me to so now its all very precisely at exactly what the book says it should be and thats the only way i can get enough penetration , put the gun against his head !!!!! dancing

I have a slightly different perspective on Disk 1. First, I will acknowledge right up front that I feel that Buzz Charlton's DVD, Hunting the African Elephant, may be the best hunting DVD ever made. That said, I watched Disk 1 of Boddington on Elephant and candidly, much of it is a series of clips from Tracks Across Africa, organized into back-to-back hunting sequences. I am hopeful that Disk 2 will strike a better balance of conveying both entertainment and information. I will update my post after watching Disk 2 tonight.

Don't get me wrong, the DVD is well done and worth the money and I encourage everyone to check it out. But if you are a regular Tracks Across Africa viewer, expect to see a lot of the same footage on Disk 1.

hi there mike ,
thanks for the post ... You are correct much of the footage has been seen on tracks and on purpose we didnt have any information on that disk, just lots of elephant hunting , actually ib believe over half the hunts have never been aired .Really its just a series of highlights, a lot of people have not seen that footage and anyway it would have been a shame to leave it out .... Smiler

you will find disk two is the real meat and potatoes of the set thats where there is all narration, talking, explaining, and very much more informationally rich, but also footage rich , so not too much "talking heads "..

i look forward to your thoughts .

thanks again for the post

My package came last Friday, watched it over the weekend. Very well done overall and disc#1 was full of short range charges and shooting which I found very fun and exciting to watch. Disc#2 had some useful info on various things, but overall I would say the Buzz Charlton DVD is more educational, especially to a total novice. Just more depth and time spent on the subjects that are addressed, but there's no doubt that Ivan has as much knowledge as Buzz and given the same framework I'm sure that would be easily seen. This is a great package of DVDs and I certainly would encourage everyone to buy it. The close up shooting is worth it all by itself!

Ordered mine and waiting for it to arrive. I must say that as an overseas buyer I had to pay a "International Fee" of $10 on the purchase in addition to the P+P. I didn't have the extra charge on The Buff DVD I bought two weeks ago so I thought it a bit cheeky.

Other than that I'm looking forward to seeing it although i'll have to hide it from the wife. If she see's the charge footage I might never be allowed to go!!
