Aaron NeilsonPhotobucket / Pic Uploads
Guys, I need some help/advice here. I normally use Photobucket for up-loading pics to AR, but lately the site has been giving me alot of hassles. Been trying to upload some from the Argentina hunt I just got back from a couple of days ago - and nothing seems to be working?
Anyone here have another site/service they use for uploading pics???
Thank you,
Aaron Neilson

BaxterB - Thanks for the offer, but I'm trying to see what other options might be out there for doing it myself? Obviously I've posted lots of pics, and know how to do it - but for whatever reason, it seems like to me that Photobucket has gotten VERY SLOW, sometimes the page/pic simply does not open at all, etc, etc. Where before, I never had any of these issues in the past.

dla69I use picassa (a google product). This has the option to save the photos to the web where they can be referenced for use in websites or forums.

jjbullAaron,
I use
http://tinypic.com/ I won't tell you it will be any better or faster than PB though.
Good luck.

Aaron, its funny that you mention this because I too have had problems uploading photos from Photobucket, to the point that I've not shared some photos I'd have liked to post.
Perhaps they have a server capacity problem???

bobby7321flickr is what I prefer. the way you can organize albums, sets, etc... just makes it pretty easy. they are also integrated with snapfish for ordering prints of any size.

BaxterBIf you own your own domain, just host them on your site. The cost is negligible for more than enough space. You will be able to FTP the pics right up and you don't have either long or cryptic URL's to your pics. Whoever builds your website has more than enough technical knowledge to accomplish this. I've heard many people complain about Photobucket recently. Good luck.

jdollarphotobucket has been a mess for awhile.i have been unable to load pictures from my iMac directly to there for weeks( i tried using their Mac uploading tool with no success)..the only way i have found to upload is to send the picture in an email to myself, then use photobucket's smartphone app to transfer from the phone to photo bucket..complete bullshit. i will now try flickr

Todd WilliamsAaron, PB went through a change a couple of months ago. It was a mess for awhile, with viewing the library being an absolute hassel. However, it seems they have gotten their act together lately, and cleaned up the functionality very well. The only issue I'm having with them at this point is resizing the photos is a real pain. As a result, I've just been posting them in whatever size the original is. I'm also doing all my editing prior to uploading instead of using the PB editing software.
You might try and contact them, describing the issues you are having, and see if they get back to you with suggestions. Sorry, but I don't know of a better option at this point.
Jerry, I'm not sure what issue you're having using the Mac. I use a Mac as well and I'm not having any upload issues. Perhaps it's a setting on your computer rather than the PB website itself? But here is a question for you. When you are able to access Photobucket, are you seeing the same old webpage format or the new format? If its the old format, I'm thinking you somehow missed the upgrade as they talked about ceasing support for the old website. I don't know for sure, but it's something to look into as again, I'm not having issues with my Mac and PB.

Todd,
I wouldn't call the upgrade and upgrade. It really seemed to screw up my albums or at least the ease to access them for placing them on here.
It always boggles my mind when the tech weenies decide to "improve" something but actually make it more complex and user unfriendly for those without a computer science degree.

Todd WilliamsJim,
I felt the same way at first. Especially the library. It was almost unworkable. Then about a month after the new format began, the library became searchable by page. This seems to be easier than before now. I'm curious however as to whether or not the site is in some type of beta testing, with some accounts being further refined than others.
Is your library now searchable by page, or do you have to scroll through starting from the beginning each time you want to view a photo? If so, that is a royal PIA as it only loads about 9 photos at a time without a significant delay per page.
Overall, the site could be one hell of a lot better and user friendly. I'll not argue that point!

Perhaps they are in training to become politicians. After all, politicians routinely screw things up compared to where they were before with their new fixes. If you doubt me, look at Obamacare.

Larry SellersDLS - perhaps they don't like the content of your/our pics? Wouldn't put it past them in these days of Liberal Bullshit. Just a thought.

They took away the "view all" button so yes I can only search for a photo a page at a time. Total PIA

Most likely a contributing factor to my choice to retire a bit earlier. Practicing medicine is becoming less and less fun and more and more a bureaucracy. Between pre-authorization and impending fee for performance policies a practice "wastes" a lot of time and money on other than patient care.

Eland SlayerAaron,
I use Facebook. I know you are active on Facebook, and it works great for "hosting" photos.
Also, if you don't want certain photos to show up on your Facebook page/news feed, but would still like to post them on AR....you can simply put them in a "hidden" album, and link the photo's URL to any forum posts you want to use them in.
I hope that makes sense....let me know if I need to clarify.

You should get an option to copy the image URL.
Click the picture icon above and then paste the url in there.

Aaron,
Sorry for the delayed reply. But yes, you can.
Depending on which browser you use (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc...) there are slightly different ways to do it.
Basically you just right click on the photo you want to post, then you should be able to do one of the following:
1. Select "Copy Image URL"....OR....if that option isn't available
2. Select "Properties", and it will display the URL of the image....at which point you can highlight it and copy the URL. Then simply paste that URL into your forum post and add to the end. The photo should then appear in your post.I hope that helps.

bobby7321just another plug for Flickr. You can upload the original file (large resolution) then you can have URLs (links) to various different sizes of the same photo. So I use it as a photo sharing tool, plus as backup of my original full resolution files as well (in case I erase on accident, or hard drive failure).
