CITES rears its' ugly head...

My stuff was all done, and inspected, and crated and ready to Air Freight. Everything looked great, and I was zooming along.

Then, CITES steps into the picture. The Caracal is not a problem, but they do want to piddle around a week or two with it before it can emigrate to its' new home.

Rich Why is the USF&G holding up your shipment? Only animals listed on cites need the registration.

Any details on what they are doing or why.
Caracal is high on my list in two weeks since I did not get a leopard tag. If there are issues I'd like to avoid them if I'm lucky.

It took quite some time for my stuff to get out of Moz, through RSA and finally in the states...significantly longer than a year...weeee. And then some how my name got associated with a large shipment from Zim and I had the Feds beating on my door asking me about it. I kindly told them several times that I have never set foot in Zim. Took a while but they finally figured it out and I didn't end up in jail...LOL.

Not sure how that whole "jug fu%$" got started but I had a feeling that the customs broker screwed up somewhere...it all worked out in the end but I really didn't like the law beating on my door.

Other than the 11 hr drive (one way) to pick my crates up in Vancouver, all my stuff came in exactly 6 months from Zimbabwe.

That included Elephant tusks and all! Was a few minor hick-ups along the way, but all-in-all pretty impressed with that timeline.

CITIES was no problem at all.

Good luck with your stuff ISS.. Hope you get it soon.
