I got my copy yesterday and if anyone hasn't got it then they need to BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!

Not only is it the best of a very good collection, I reckon it's the the best African hunting related DVD I've ever seen.

They's repeatedly hit the nail bang on the head in every possible way you can imagine.

My thanks to Craig, Dave and everyone else involved for such a terrific product.

How does it compare to Gregor Woods fine book on African rifles?

They're so different they can't really be compared.

That isn't meant to be a criticism of any book or books and many books such as GW's, Pierre Van Der Walts book and indeed Craig's 'Safari Rifles' are also all so good they should feature on hunter's and gun nut's bookshelves but they're just so different to the DVD, they can't really in all fairness be compared to each other.

I honestly reckon any hunter that has been or wants to go on an African hunting safari needs to buy the Bodd on Rifles DVD...... and maybe the books as well! rotflmo

shakari, i have just finished watching this. It is the first gun/hunting video/dvd i have ever watched. It is very good. Makes me want to go even more!

Gee the elephant really tower over the hunter!

One thing of interest, the last scene is of Craig shooting a Ruger No1 that doesn't clear the first shot! Had to clear it manually to reload. Bugger that.

Cheers, Chris

Chris,

I reckon all the Boddington series are top notch but Bodd on Rifles is to me the best of all of 'em.

I have it along with his safari rifles and safari rifles 2. The dvd is definately worth it as are both books. The best is still his origional safari rifles but the others are must haves also.

Fairgame, and the rest of you

I own all three books, and the DVD. IMHO, having all four and having to part with one: Boddington's first book goes. II is not really a rehash of I, and Wood's book approaches the subject from an entirely different perspective.
The DVD is a first rate "show & tell", but it would be the next one to go. I enjoy books too much.

Down to the last two, and I absolutely could not make a decision that one is more valuable than the other.
For anyone who enjoys shooting all calibers and types of rifles as well as hunting all sorts of game these books are a treasure trove on information and entertainment.

Hate to be a naysayer, but what will the latest DVD do for me?

Will it make me like my .416 more, or will it convince me that I'm going to die on my next journey to Africa if I don't carry a rifle that has a bore larger than .45 inches?

I like hunting and shooting as much as the next guy, but when a subject's been talked to death I'm usually convinced I'm better off buying a pound of powder than a book/DVD that's beating the same old dead horse.

I hate to dispute the opinion of a fellow afficianado of naked women, but as a latin myself I have to point out, a woman and a rifle aren't quite the same thing.

I actually found it the most mundane of the Boddington DVD's that I have seen.

Bod on Elephant was excellent and his other DVD's have usually got some constructive and informative knowledge to impart. This was a very low budget production with endless soliloqy by Boddington and footage cut from other areas.

The poxy shield in the background made me cringe.

Sorry Steve, I've just got to take the contrary view on this.

Sorry it was not your cup of tea. We designed it to be more of a hardware DVD with hunting and shooting to make points on topics such as action type, bullet design, caliber, and so forth. It is hard to please everyone with any film we produce, but we sure try to do our very best to make the best DVD of it's type with every release. As for low budget, well there is where I will have to "piss on the tree" a bit. I will promise you no one in the DVD market past or present that spends the enormous amount of hunting and travel money that we do in the production of our two TV shows and DVD lineup. If Craig's delivery on subjects such as firearms and safari hunting ( which he knows just a little about) bored you , then I'll just have to hide behind my poxy shield if we see you at a show. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I hear Sullivans hippo movie is full of action...

Craig and his crew do more for our sport than anyone else I know of. Eductation of the unwashed mass's is a large part of that. And for one I thank you and craig. Hope to see you at FTW some time in the future

I own and have watched the videos on buffalo, leopard, and elephant several times. They are all very good, and i learn something every time I watch. I like the Safari Rifle books, as well as others, so I will have to pick up the latest DVD. Nice work gentlemen.

Yellowstone, Don't worry Hornaday's Africa will be back in April I think. I talked to Dave at the Feb. DSC meeting and he assured me the next season will be on the tube. Couldn't make it through the week without Tracks to fuel the flames. JC

Good I'm glad to here it. I like TAA as well. It is a way to live vicariously in the great game fields of Africa. Mike Rodgers with SCI has some good ones every once in awhile too, and of course there are others.

I can only take a small amount uf huntin them whitetails 'n turkeys. To each their own.

Dave, you guys have done more to educate the great unwashed than just about everyone and it is impossible to please averyone. This was just not your best work and you can't get it right every time. Please keep up the (better) work you have done in the past.

Edit: Have you seen 'First Season, The Mopani Collection'. That has a good combination of local lore, ballistics and action with commentary 'on the move'. It is the best I've seen of the African DVD's available. You feel part of the action and not being lectured at on 'How it should be'.

Having locals makeing First Season was probably a benefit, where as I realise you cater to the Massive US market.

P.S. You won't see me at any of the local shows, being from Down Under I travel in the other direction to get to Africa. Wink
