Does anyone have any experience with this round on dangerous game? If so, what was the outcome. I remember seeing Tony Makris using one on a buffalo on the "Under Wild Skies" series with good results. I wondered if there were similar results with everyone else who may have used one.

Thanks,

jfm

jfm,

I have a client hunting buffalo with a 475 Turnbull on the Save with Terry Anders this year. I have to think he will do fine.

I thought Makris used a 405 Winchester?

PM Martin Pieters... he has had a client or two use the Turnbull and was impressed with it's performance. I think the hunter is featured on his DVD The Mopani Collection and shoots buff and elephant with the rifle.

Makris uses a number of vintage rifles and leverguns on Wild Skies including the .405 Winchester and the .475 Turnbull.

I have one of Doug's rifles but have only shot paper up to this point...

I personally know Doug. He has banged some big critters with it. Like any other rifle accurate shooting is always important. A bullet in the right place performs miracles.

I believe that Craig Boddington has used it on Buffalo in Moz. Maybe he will chime in.

400 grain at 2150 according to the ammo makers. Pretty close to a .470 Nitro --- if the bullets good should work just fine.
