I started laying out all my gear for my upcoming trip to Namibia, and found out that my Tuffpak and Tuffsack are going to cost me money. Into the Tuffpak/sack I was able to get my scoped rifle in a soft padded case, a full length Dewey cleaning rod, a pair of boots, socks, underwear, leather gloves, fleece jacket and sweater, down vest, a pair of hunting pants and shirt, 2 caps, hunting knife, ammo belt, a medium size nylon duffle bag, flashlight, and spare batteries.

Then I went to load the rest of my gear in my extra large rolling duffle bag from Cabelas. I only have the bottom compartment 90% filled, and nothing in the main compartment. I've got nothing left to pack.

Now I have to go to Cabelas tomorrow and buy a smaller rolling duffle. I mean, why lug the extra large bag around when you don't have to?

Becausae you need the space to bring back the gifts you buy for everyone!!!!

Same thing here. Had to go buy a smaller rolling duffel bag after I got the Tuffpak.

The only limitation I have found in the Tuffpak is the lack of padding at the bottom. Some people put clothes or similar in the bottom. I add 3-4" of dense foam in the bottom just in case the baggage monkeys drop it.

Oh, you poor thing!

On one trip I used a plastic model of a human skull wrapped in a polartec jacket as a spacer. The look on the baggage counter attendant's face was quite rewarding.....
The best part was when I flipped off the metal clips that held the top part on and revealed a couple pair of dirty socks within.

Sorry but you're thinking wrong. You need a new rifle to have a spare, carried in the Tuffpack. Not a smaller suitcase..... ......DJ

I haven't weighed it, but it isn't heavy, as the fleece jacket and sweater weigh next to nothing, as does the down vest, the boots only weigh 2 pounds, and the hunting clothes and underwear are light weight cotton.

Terry, I cut out two pieces of 1 1/2" foam from an old foam canoe seat. I put one on the bottom, and another one on top. Works great.

Hey Mike, I went and checked. You are not leaving until the middle of May. That is enough time to go to Cabelas 3 or 4 times. Get everything out and repack it 2 or 3 times so you get it right!!!

Look me up at the Harrisburg Show( remember at the Du booth). I will not be there Sunday, Wednesday or Saturday. I hope I can find new people to show my pics to.

You're advise came too late. I already ordered a new bag via mail order on their website. I had some Cabela's Bucks that were ready to expire, so I got $50.00 off the regular price, and I save the gas money

I'll be up at the Harrisburg show opening day. That's all I can get away for.

I found out last week you can use your Cabelas Bucks at the store. They treat them like a competitors coupon, you do have to ask for it though.
