TSX on Buffalo
As this season moves along, anyone have any experiences to report pro or con using the Barnes TSX on buffalo? Planning to use 400 grain TSXs in my .416 Rigby in three weeks.

I used a 400 Grain TSX/416 Remington on this buffalo at 15 yards last May. Worked pretty good!

Used the same combo on this eland at about 45 yards. I would highly recommend it.

I shot 2 Buff in Tanzania with the 500 grain TSX
in 458 win mag. I recovered 1 X bullet, it passed through the shoulder and I recovered it under the skin under the other shoulder, it weighed exactly 500 grains. I also recovered 1 barnes solid. I shot this one up the buffs ass after the shoulder shot and recovered it in his neck. The solid only had rifling marks on it and it weighed 498 grains. I shot the buff at 45 yards an it died in 2 munuted after running about 25 yards.

This dagga boy took a 400 grain TSX @ 2,425 fps to the chest at about 25 yards. He was facing us and I used a Ruger 416 Rigby.

At the shot, it looked like someone hit him in the chest with a sledgehammer. He quickly regained his composure and took about 3 steps directly towards us. I had just chambered a 2nd round and the PH fired his 458 Win Mag into the buff's chest (an inch or two higher than my shot). The buff dropped at his shot and stayed down.

After it was over, I asked the PH about my shot and he said it was good and that the buff would have probably went down within 100 yards. He then said, however, we were within 20 yards and the buff was headed our direction, so he decided to lend a hand.

I shot this guy with the same rifle and load. It was about a 50 yard shot and he dropped without taking a step.

Verey nice pics. I'm sorry that your PH took your shot on the buff, but sound like he was already dead but just didn't know it.
