Leave it alone. It should have some use, if only because it probably weighs less and therefore carries better than the .375.

But, but, but, you are on the right track with that .505 Gibbs idea. Why stop at a 458 Lott? Get the "whole deal"
with the .505. .510 Wells is probably more practical, but it ain't nearly 100 years old. Age gets some privileges, but unfortunately I don't think there are any senior dicounts with the .505.

Cewe,
Sigh! As a result of recent events I am the only one qualified to answer your question as to which is the caliber of choice!!

Today I had to make that very hard choice to sell either my 9.3x62 or my 375 H&H, both fantastic guns...

As most here know, I get the hots or a good rope horse now and then and when that happens I go to my investment bank, the gun cabinet as opposed to stocks and bonds...I cash in the guns and buy horses or buy guns and sell a horse which ever the case may be....

Today I found a dream horse and I am putting my Brno M-21, 9.3x62 on the market as opposed to my 375 H&H..It was a grueling decision as I put a lot of planing and work into that 9.3...It was an 8x57 with a bad bore...I had the barrel traced and all barrel hardware transfered to the 9.3 barrel and all marking the same, expensive stuff...but the results were outstanding, but I guess the 375 just had to stay...and the very accurate 9.3 is for sale and will be in the next issue of gun list ....

So in the real world of decision makeing the 375 Holland and Holland is King.

Marterius: With bg game I mean bigger than rabbits and smaller than dagga boys, the first deer I shot was big, the first elk bigger. Maybe "Big Game", "Bigger Game" and "DG" would be the correct classification?

The 9.3x62 gets good press because it has been a long time since anyone produced factory ammo with the kind of lousy bullets you find on some 375 factory loads. The RWS stuff is excellent in 9.3x62.

Use the .375H&H on the very large and tough game, the 9.3x62 on red deer on down.

I have never been able to tell much difference on Buffalo between the 9.3x62 and the 375 H&H, but I always used a 26" barrel in my 9.3s and handloaded them to max....I can shoot a 320 gr. Woodleigh at 2400 FPS and a 286 gr. bullet at 2520 FPS, and thats certainly in the 375s ball park....By the same token I have seen them used at much less velocity and again they worked just fine.

But when push comes to shov I probably prefer the 375 H&H for Buffalo for no particular reason...actually I really prefer the 40 calibers for DGRs...

Most folks who deny the 9.3 is right to passage in the dangerous game field, simply have not used it for dangerous game..It works..

I read a recent article in Man Magnum by a fellow who used the 9.3x62 and although he liked its performance and it did perform very well for him, he orbitraily came to the conclusion that next time he would be much better armed with the 375 H&H....Next time he will find there is really no difference and that he is just going through a learning experience...

If you must to see a difference in killing effect over the 9.3x62, then you must go to the 416 Rigby, 416 Rem, or the 404 Jefferys, not the 375 H&H...However all calibers mentioned are capable rounds IMO...

I have a lady who cleaning and efficiently kills her buffalo every year with a 9.3x62 that I built her..She shoots the bull, it runs 30 or 40 yards and dies...Her husband shoots his buffalw with a 475 double and his buffalo run 30 to 40 yards and die...I shoot buffalo with a 375, 404, 416, 470, and they run 30 or 40 yards and die...

If you get a charge, then you will feel better with a 470 or a 500, thats for sure, but the results will probably be the same in the end with any of these calibers because you must place the shot to end the affair and thats the bottom line...

Of course this is just my opinnion and I am sure its argueable....
