Fake Tusks in Tuffpak?

Anyone tried to get a set of fake tusks circa 50 lb into a tuffpak? I will have one takedown gun with me in addition to the tusks, so there should be some room. But if it doesn't all fit in there, that will be an awkward situation.

I don't think it'll work, Russ. Looking at mine, the curvature probably won't fit regardless of space. It they're not curved too much, maybe so, and clothing packed around them would be good.

How long/heavy are your tusks?

Russ, mine are 35#'ers and the repro tusks are curved enough that they won't go into the Tufpak. Length is fine, it's just the curvature. If yours are fairly straight you may be ok; just measure the height of the curve to see. I don't know that you'll be able to get a takedown case in with them even if the tusks fit.

Would a big bow case work for the curvature?

I'd think an SKB case would prob work but doubt that the rectangular ones would. Again, it depends on the curvature.

Russ,

How the hell are you going to get ivory that has a bend or arc to it in a straight case.
Build an extra wooden case hinge and lock.

I dont think with any mass and curvature there is any way they will fit. Even if the would, you might have some fancy slpaining to do to USFWS and Customs. No, Really these are just cheap reproductions honest! I wonder how far that discussion would get. Not Far Ill warrant.

Plano makes a deep bow case 18" wide and 42" long ... going to see if that will work.

As far as F&G ... if they don't know ivory from resin then the joke's on them
