Was not sure of the best place to post this (sorry not African hunting) but I thought this may be of interest to some fellow AR folks in Virginia. This is the third year of this. I went to the first two and plan on going Saturday. Not a bad way to spend a few hours eating boerewors and sampling some wines. If anyone is planning on going, drop me a line.

Tempting. The 2hr drive wouldn't be a problem. The two hour drive back though...

Too short notice. Next year I'll be there along with a RSA co-worker. We will lager up and do the designated driver thing.

Thanks for the info.

I see that South African Airways will be there giving away round trip tickets to South Africa. Those would help with the overall cost of the next hunting trip!

It's not too far from here so I think I will be there!

Well with the price of gas and it is a 5 hr each way I will pass this year, but it does look like fun, maybe next year, and make a weekend of it.

I am less than an hour drive from the festival, maybe next year we can charter a designated driver AR bus!

If any of you win the airline tickets, all I ask is that you take me along. I think I can fit into one of those Filson rolling duffel bags Big Grin

Unfortunately, I cannot make it this year, but next year is already on the calendar as I will be at Ft. Lee (Petersburg).

From the web sites it looks like it is a great festival.

I was surprised at how interested in this my wife was, but it's just too much short notice for us to make it this year. We're planning on going next year too, looks like a lot of fun.

My wife and I just got back a few minutes ago. It was a very pleasant day. Got a chance to meet Grafton and his wife, talk about aminas, taxidermy, and hunting. There was South African food including very good roasted lamb, lots of wine both red and white, curios and handicrafts, and even beef biltong.

This would be a very nice venue for an informal AR gathering to meet and put faces with screen names. Maybe we can watch for the next event and do a little on-line advance planning and put something together.

Count me and my wife in for next year & with a little advance planning we could make this a good AR event.

Spec's in the Houston, Texas area used to have these from time to time. I'm not on their email list anymore so I'm not sure of their schedule. Since I don't care for wine, it would be nice if they had beer sampling to go with the wine or maybe I'd just drink Amarula and think of the bushveld!!!!!beer:
