As a confirmed Luddite with no interest or comprehension in tech I will continue to trust in the one thing they are not making any more of. Land may not be a very liquid asset but it will be of value to your great grandchildren and Bitcoin will not.

With all due respect some folks in Rhodesia may disagree. As far as the "Bitcoin will not", that's possibly true or possibly false, depends on your crystal ball.

FrostbitWe are building a large shop and I needed to transfer some funds from Vanguard and also from the Gemini crypto exchange.
The money from Gemini is sitting in our Wells Fargo checking account less than 24 hours after transfer order. The money from the Vanguard transfer, judging from past experience, likely will not be in WF earlier than Monday at the best.

bobby7321crypto exchanges just know how to deal with ledgers and transferring 1/0's better than the traditional banks and brokerages. They are going to find it more and more difficult to charge their ridiculous fees. Which will benefit everyone.

How do you feel about the internet? Many thought it was also a fad and silly. Yet here we are using it to our advantage in every way. I would bet good money that people have used it via this forum to create priceless memories that would not have happened if we only had magazines and newsletters. I suspect crypto will follow a similar path of acceptance.

the PomHi Bobby, the Internet is a handy tool and allows this form of communication. I managed to keep computers out of my life until I retired and finally bought one. I watched people like my sister who was a professor of computer science in California spend their lives tied to a screen instead of getting out and living.
Wouldn't it be boring if everyone chose to live their lives in the same way with the same beliefs? I happen to believe that crypto currencies are a ponzi scheme. I am often wrong too!
All currencies are based on faith and confidence. Supporters of crypto have to try and encourage others to join and invest in their belief system otherwise their own investment will become worthless.
The US Dollar retains its value despite huge debts because people all over the world still believe their money is safe there.
Land is called Real Estate because it is Real. It will still be there in a hundred years.
I do hope that crypto continues to work for you because l hate to see people lose everything to con men, but I won't be buying.

With the institutional adoption occurring now in anticipation of the likely multiple BTC Spot ETF approvals groups like Blackrock, Fidelity, Ark Investments, etc. are accumulating BTC from both the OTC market and the historically small amount available on the exchanges.
Simple supply and demand applies and the supply of BTC is finite.
The BTC ETF's are now 32 days old. Full institutional adoption has not even begun to ramp up.
BTC today topped 63K

larryshoresGoing up in value is not the question. The question is whether it will used in the hunting industry. I still say it is too volatile.
On the in investment side , I personally invested in Coin Base and MicroStrategies. It’s a fair statement that those have done incredibly well for me .

MSTR is a great bet which we also have a large bag of.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the volatility of BTC in the long run. Though the halving is coming up in April, the institutional adoption secondary to the present ETF’s and the upcoming Hong Kong ETF’s may well nudge that volatility to the back burner.

FrostbitIn honor of the bitcoin halving occurring tomorrow or the next day here is a link to a .pdf presentation by the International Monetary Fund regarding bitcoin cross border flows.
Plain English...... it would be a good idea to have some in your go-bag, especially in increasingly unstable economies or political hotspots.
A Primer on Bitcoin Cross-Border Flows: Measurement and Drivers quote:
Summary
The rapid growth of crypto assets raises important questions about their cross-border usage. To gain a better understanding of cross-border Bitcoin flows, we use raw data covering both on-chain (on the Bitcoin blockchain) and off-chain (outside the Bitcoin blockchain) transactions globally. We provide a detailed description of available methodologies and datasets, and discuss the crucial assumptions behind the quantification of cross-border flows. We then present novel stylized facts about Bitcoin cross-border flows and study their global and domestic drivers. Bitcoin cross-border flows respond differently than capital flows to traditional drivers of capital flows, and differences appear between on-chain and off-chain Bitcoin cross-border flows. Off-chain cross-border flows seem correlated with incentives to avoid capital flow restrictions.

FrostbitPSA - Digital Asset trading can be the wild west. If you stick with centralized exchanges and limit the amount you leave on there for trading you limit exposure to scammers. There are many out there.
Just had a very close friend scammed out of a very large sum of money over a one year period. He didn't consult with me until he had been bled dry.
Never invest in something you do not understand.

K EvansIf Bitcoin prices scare you, a much cheaper alternative could be “fart coin” (no joke), selling for less than $1.00. Might be a quick way to make a big, stinkin’, pile of money!

Saeed, it’s interesting that Dubai has become the go to location for many of the big players in the crypto space. Smart move with the tax free status.

Very forward thinking group of people running things, sure they will make a lot of money, but so will a lot of us “ordinary” people. The amount that others profit is minuscule in the grand scheme. I’m not a player, but see no problem…

Broad brush statement there my friend. That Trump token is a "meme" coin with no use case other than speculation so I couldn't agree more.
I'm sure I could look back through this thread and find a post where I said 99% of alt coins are worthless scams.
But your broad brush crypto is worthless statement would be the same as looking at the Argentinian Peso 18 months ago and determining that all country's currency is worthless.
BTC (Bitcoin) as a store of value has proven to be true over the life of this thread.
Traditional finance vehicles have adopted it. Just look at the skyrocketing value of IBIT and the other BTC ETF's. IBIT is the fastest growing ETF ever issued, far surpassing gold.
9 US States now have legislation to adopt BTC as part of their investment strategy. And that number is rapidly growing.
UAE has wholeheartedly embraced the digital asset space luring very wealthy investors to Dubai as a tax free trading heaven.
As always, your mileage may vary. 0.02
