All bullets make holes.but we thrive to get the best performance from them forever ,even trying to fix what works My 338 W Mag didnt shoot Barnes in the past ,so had to settle on Nosler Partitions. Now they came out with Nosler Accubonds as well as Hornady Interbonds.I understand that both are about equal in performance, better than the old (soft) Ballistic tips and even the Sciroccos. They also are supposed to have superior accuracy,so maybe they are comparable or better than the NPs which loose the front part usually. Any thoughts or experience using them in 338 W Mag on Zebra,Kudu,Leopard? type critters? sheephunter

I've tried the Hornady 225 gr SST, but they did not shoot as well as other Hornady bullet do. This particular rifle just loves 200 gr Horndy spire Points. The new Barnes 225 gr Triple Shocks were a pleasant surprize. I've shot lots of game using various 225 gr bullets with never a "problem". Only "problem" I ever had was with 225 gr Swift A-Frames. I feel they are too tough for plains game, and better suited for big Bears or Moose.

I shoot the 225grNAB in my .338mag & while I haven't taken any game w/ it yet, just got it this fall, I have tested several in wet phone books & the NAB is very close to the 225grNP in weight ret. It expands a bit more & penetrates a bit less. I think it will be a good bullet for general plainsgame & NA game in the .338mags.

If you want the most accurate premium, try the 225 and 240 grain North Fork. My .340 Wby likes them very much. They mushroom like the Swift A-Frame and shoot like the Matchkings. If you don't want to shoot them the rest of your life, shoot something else. Good shooting.

Terry, What do you mean "too tough"? Is this to imply they don't expand enough? You have a 0.338 hole through the animal? I am going to RSA in Sept for plains game. I am still mentally masturbating about which rifle to bring, but the Swift A-Frames shoot well in both my 300wby and 257wby. Do you "trust" the polymer tipped bullets on a safari type hunt? Or do you stick with NP or an old stand-by? Thanks.
