"would just friday be enough"

To see it all? Absolutely NOT!!! Not a chance!

To speak to a bunch of specific outfitters or gun companies? Not likely, but possible if you budget your time well and know exactly where everthing is and don't get side tracked for hours looking at all the other booths.

To visit a few outfitters or gun companies? Sure if you know where they are and don't let yourself get distracted.

To have a good time? You bet!!!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Go for the two days. I usually try to go for three days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

If it's not a big deal I would absolutely recommend 2 or more days.

+1. Plus, the annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's annual Elk Camp is also in Las Vegas at the same time!

I went the one time it was in Las Vegas, basically since it was on the way to my Grandaughters in Ogden. I planned on getting there around noon (I live south of Tucson) and then spending the next day. I got there by noon and left the next morning about 11 o'clock. The food was expensive and I can only look at so many guns and visiting hunting boothes was of no interest as I had no intention of booking anything. You may be totally enraptured by it,I wasn't. Have not been back and probably never will.

I guess I am going to plan on 2 maybe 2 and a half days depending on how the plane rides work out, have tickets to george straight on friday night and a huge party on sunday, so will be a good trip....

Dont plan on booking any major hunts, but does depend on what one of my customers orders on the 15th of this month Smiler
but do want to look at hartmann and weiss and will probably order a rifle at the show, not so sure how fancy yet.
It will also be a good oportunity to meet a few of the outfitters I am thinking of booking with in the future.

I will be rolling solo, so if anyone wants to hang out, get drinks or dinner I will be up for it.

If you are not going to research a specific set of outfitters or book a hunt, I have always found 1 full day to be enough.

How many RSA plains games outfitters, US elk outfitters, Alaska hunting, Alaska fishing, custom gun, art, optics, and clothing companies can you look at before your eyes glaze over.

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

To really see the show in depth you need 2 days. If you only have one I suggest that you check the exhibitor's list and make a note of which ones are must see. As you wander keep checking so that you have enough time to see them all. I am planning only i day this year, but I have already booked and am merely checking in with the PHs and browsing.

I always do the full four days and find myself still scurring about the last day to finish up with some loose ends. I do spend a great deal of time taking in some of the seminars and this eats into the time each day. The seminars are great and provide some set down, relax for an hour time during the daily trek.

Putting a list of "must sees" from the SCI web site always helps make sure I don't miss something/someone. Usually cruise the show fairly fast on Wednesday, setting appointments for later days, looking for new exhibitors, and getting an overview of the Show. See more specific folks and booths on the next two days, then finish up on Saturday with folks I missed or a few new ones that I spotted.

I noticed a few folks interested in some sort of get together but haven't heard any specifics yet?? Anyone?

NO. I have been three times & find that I use all four days. Could be done & see all in 3.5 days at my pace. I should say I attend some seminars and look at almost everything. For the first timer it can be overwhelming in its size. Great show - something that should be seen by every hunter.

Unless you've been there over and over I would plan for at least 2 days. I find the day auctions solid entertainment value even if you don't want to bid, there is "free" beer and popcorn and if you have too much beer you might find yourself buying something interesting!
